Hey Guys! Just a quick one, seeing as i know there are thousands of ladies, mums and grandmas on here, your always the ones with the knowledge!

A very very good friend of mine, who is going to be a young single mother, is due to give birth in a around 5 weeks time, so ive picked up what is gonna be my godsons presents up, a few bits to help her, but I also want to get my friend something....

Is there such a thing as a new mother present?? Or is it just normal to send a big thing of balloons? Ive tried doing abit of research, but I cant really think of the kind of thing a new mother would want......so any ideas?

It's a hard one as you know her best. People bought me flowers and chocolates which was lovely but a few weeks down the line I very much needed my eyebrows waxed so in future I would always be tempted to buy my friends vouchers for beauty treatments, in fact a few of us clubbed together and this is what we've got out heavily pregnant friend.

It's something for them to look forward to, 6-8 weeks in when she's getting back to her normal self she'll appreciate a few hours to be alone and relax.

I would suggestthe same pampering products and a nice box of chocolates - amazing how mice chocs taste when you feeding a baby at 2am !!

The best pressie i recieved was vouchers for the local hair and beauty salon and as previous poster said it was a nice pick me up a few weeks after the birth !!

Another thing to do might be to make up/print some vouchers, like babysitting vouchers where you offer an hour's or evening's babysitting. Not only is it free but, if you go down the road of beauty/spa treatments like PPs ahve suggested, if she is a single parent she may be struggling with childcare.

I was also going to suggest the offer of you babysitting for her. If she is alone the thought of her getting a few hours break maybe the best pressie anyone could give her

I could not agree more :thumbsup2

For one of my friends we were going to club together and let our friend go to Ribby Hall for the day - they do a Yummy Mummy spa package. We were going to babysit whilst she got pampered :goodvibes.

Im at a wedding at Ribby Hall in a few weeks, il have to check it out while im there! This babysitting idea is looking like it could go down a treat and its cheap haha...oooops did i just say that!:rotfl:

She doesn't even have to go out. As a single mum the pleasure of showering in peace or a power nap while someone else watches the baby will be priceless for her

I agree with the babysitting offer! When Megan was first born and my husband had gone back to work my mum would quite often pop round for an hour or two so i could just have a relax in the bath or a bit of a relax! It was very much appreciated to have even a little bit of time to myself and a single mother would appreciate it even more.

That said i also really enjoyed the vouchers to our local spa, just to have a bit of "me" time too.
