This came in a mailing list digest to which I subscribe and I thought it was a nice simple explaination of how to prepare a page kit.
"Hi Ladies -My name is Dianne Glass. I am one of the teachers for Buffalo retreat. I am Creative Director of a large scrapbook store and I give a talk to the ladies before big crops that we host.
Come ready to scrap, chat, scrap, eat, and scrap some more.
In order to accomplish lots of pages at a retreat:
PRE-ORGANIZE: Make kits
1. Sort photos into themes (6 - 8 photos per double layout)
2. Choose your paper ie 2 background/cardstock, 1 sheet pattern, even choose your eyelets, ribbons, stickers, whatever you think you need to complete those 2 pages.
3. Slide them into page protectors with the photos.
4. If you need something for that page ie "rub-on letters" then add a sticky note 'buy rub-on letters at crop'.
5. Some like to sketch out the layout, drop that into the page protector also.
6. If you hope to get 10 pages (5 doubles) done, then make 14 kits. You will be surprised how much you get done when it is ready to grab a kit.
7. During the week before the crop, if you find you have 20 minutes while dinner cooks, grab the photos from the first kit and crop them, stick them back into sleeve.
I work this way all the time, not just crops. If I had 20 minutes free before dinner, BUT had to start to organize my scrapbook supplies to start a page, I would not do it.
And if you do not get many pages scrapped at this crop, but you have a great time, meet new friends, catch up with friends you went with and relaxed, then THAT is a successful crop."
I try to make my page kits when I get my pictures and keep the kits in a binder style album until ready to work on them. Happy Scrapping!
