We are going on our first trip to WDW from February 6-15. Since this is our first trip we are oblivious to what is awaiting us. We have never encountered anything like this at DL. Apparently Disney refused to tell my DU travel agent what was happening while we were there and only referred to it as "a convention". One of the things we do know is there is a dance competition going on from the 1st through the 7th and then a cheerleading event from the 9th to the 13th. I have been reading on other threads the absolute ignorance of Disney in regards to controlling tour groups. I had no idea how bad it was until I started reading about it. Is it as bad as everyone says? When we booked we made the token 200 deposit and yesterday we paid for the trip in one lump sum.

Nope. Besides, the cheerleaders are mostly found at the Value resorts; you will be at a moderate.

I know it's hard, but try to take what you read regarding this kind of stuff on Disney discussion boards with a grain of salt. :)

Believe me we are very open to having the groups among us. Even dd10 is excited! You are right however all you do is read about the bad experiences. Everyone should be able to enjoy themselves regardless their reason for being there. The experiences I have read about are so horrible. We tried to pick a bit of an off time so we would not be so overwhelmed however their seems to be no off time now even if it is value season. One can only hope for the best and deal with any situations as they arise and ignore the other 99% of it:thumbsup2

That's the right attitude! :goodvibes

Trust me, you will be SOOOO overwhelmed with everything going on at WDW in comparison to DL that you won't even notice the cheerleaders. :)
