Premium vs Preferred site

Staying in FW in June for the first time in many years. We've booked a premium site but I'm curious of whether it's worth the extra money. It's just the two of us (in our 60's) and our 7 year old granddaughter. We have a 34 ft Class A. Any thoughts?

Unless you want to be close to the pool I think you would do better with a "preferred"(100-200) since that will put you closer to the Marina, Settlement and Trails End. If you want to be close to the pool a full hook-up(1500-1600) would work for you as well. JMHO!

We have a 37' and never have an issue as far as space and accessbility in a preferred.

We had a preferred in July, the 100 loop and loved the location. But we are heading back to a premium. We decided to upgrade to avoid the sand and have a wider pad. The site we had had a tree that prevented us from using the awning.

We also like the premium sites so we can have a wider pad with out the sand pathway under the awing or the sand pad behind the MH.

The 1500 loop is a partial loop for tent campers/popups and since you have a Class A, it wouldn't be practical - no sewer. The 1600 loop is a full hookup site and is the closest full hookup loop located near the pool but quite a ways from the Marina.

I would recommend staying in a preferred loop since it's close to the marina, trading post and Trails End. Those loops would be the 100-300. Personally I don't think the premium loops are worth the extra $10 a night or $15 more than a full hookup site. Plus you could get a premium site and be at the farthest point from the Marina (if they put you in the 1100, 1200 or 1300 loops).

OOPS! Meant 1600,1700 thanks for the catch.

With a 35' MH, I'd probably choose the preferred for proximity to the settlement and marina and to save a few bucks. There are premium loops that are near the settlement and marina, but there are those that aren't, too, whereas all the preferred loops are near the settlement. And there are plenty of spaces that you will easily fit into in the preferred loops. We usually choose a premium site because we're 45' long with a wheelbase that makes us seem even longer, so the wider aprons and the supposedly larger sites are important for us (although we've been put into a premium site we didn't fit into). Unless you really want concrete instead of the coquina pad and walkway, preferred is good.

FWIW we don't mind the sand so much - the camping mat and door mat keep that out.

What was a bit of a bother was all the cypress needles in 300. I was picking those things out of my hair and the dogs all the time. And despite sweeping the camper out every day, they were always there.

I must have swept a garbage bag full off the roof/slide outs before we packed up to leave.

Then again 300 is Cypress Knee Circle. ;)

This was our first stay in other than a full hook up and were were in a premium loop (400) and really found it convenient since we never in 45 days had to take a bus anywhere, except to eat once or twice due to the adult beverages with dinner. The 400 loop is right across from the 100/200 and to get to the area we went into the 100 loop and took the pathway to the settlement and arena. I found the extra width and lack of obstructions made backing in a breeze. This is the first time in some 18 or so visits I got into my site on the first try. I think I'm a premium convert now as long as I can get the 400 loop and it was never completely full from 10/16/2010 to 12/1/2010. The 400 loop also doesn't have those needles that get buried in a long haired dogs hair and are a ROYAL PAIN to remove and that alone is worth the extra daily cost.

We also prefer the premium. We were in 1400 our last two trips. Close to the comfort station. Short walk to bus stop, pool, Meadows Trading post, bike barn and right behind the campfire. Great location for the kids.
