Are the premium sites pull-through sites? Or are there ANY pull-through sites? How hard is it for a newbie to back into? We've had our 33' camper for a year and have camped a lot, but almost always at pull-through sites, DH is nervous about backing the camper into places...

All of the sites are back in. I remember reading that they experimented with some pull thru sites a while back, but those have been converted to back in now as well.

There used to be only two pull thru sites, but after all the recent upgrading, I'm not sure those are still there and I think there were both in the same loop.

1) No more pull-through's.
2) But, ask for a corner site with easy back-up.
3) There are several, and much easier to pass-by and back-up line-up.
4) The staff knows them all.

Respectfully disagreeing here.....
You are correct about no pull-thru sites. They were in 1200 & were done away with when 1200 was upgraded to a premium loop.

Not all corner sites are easy to back into - I'm thinking 901 in particular, one of the end sites in 700, site 361, site 1101, and others that I'm not sure of the site numbers.

The front desk is now mostly staffed by new cast members or college program kids that know nothing about the campsites. The old staff knew the sites very well but most are gone now. They have either been moved to other resorts or have retired. There is a book that shows the dimentions of each site, but not the placement of the site.

So are there sites and/or loops that you would recommend for novices like us? My father drove a tractor trailer for years after leaving the military and lives in Florida; perhaps I'll have him meet us at FW and back it in for us. :rotfl: My wonderful, amazing, terrific, resourceful DH (who is a colonel in the Army) can do anything/handle ANYTHING I throw at him. Except, apparently, he is not comfortable backing our camper up. He's done it, and done it well, he just hates doing it. Unfortunately, I'm no help, I have the depth perception of a turnip.

Yep...I'm recommending 1200 or 1300 for premium loops. Most sites are easy as pie to back into, they are spacious sites, and close to Meadow Trading Post & Recreation area.

Even though they are more money, we always get a premium site, because they seem to have more room. I also request a corner site because it is usually easier to back into.
Don't worry about being nervous about backing your trailer in, I have seen many people have problems backing their trailers into their site, it is natural. Sometimes it takes serveral attempts and it is not just TT, it is also FW and Class A. Tell him to take a deep breadth and not worry, just take his time.

It also is a natural occurrence for the guy and his wife to bicker the entire time while doing this, it happens most all the time (We use walkie-talkies to help alleviate this problem, but I do admit it don't always work). If you are lucky one of your neighbors might help guide your DH into the site. It is just one of those things that the more you do it, the better he will become. I know my DH can do it on his own now, all I really watch out for is the light posts.
The only other problem we have sometimes is the way people park their vehicles on their sites, sometimes that makes it very hard to back into your site. I know it does for us, and I have seen it many times with other people. If you see that the site is going to be hard, just go back to the front and request another one, many people do.

If I can back mine into a TIGHT spot, your dh will be fine. Tell him I have done it a few times. That will give him the push he needs. Never known a guy willing to be one upped by a woman. LOL

There is usually someone willing to help guide you in. You can also request that someone from FW help. Last time I did this, but my neighbor had guided me in before they got there, which is a good thing because I would have been blocking the road for a long time. LOL

With practice, he will be doing it w/o even thinking in no time.

I agree with des1954 about the 1200 loop. I would highly recommend this loop. we were there 2 weeks ago and were in 1208 and loved it, very spacious and very easy to back into. No problems at all. Honestly, all the sites in the 1200 loop appeared to be easy to back into.

Thank you!!!! Looks like I will be requesting the 1200 loop...

Thanks everyone for all of your GREAT advice!:flower3:

We have not been to the fort in almost two years but have a premium site reserved coming up.... Does anyone know where a list of premium site numbers is?

The premium Loops are as follows:
400
500
600
700
800
900
1000
1100
1200
1300
1400

(In other words, each Loop has a designation, and all of the sites in that Loop are the same)

FYI, the rest of the loops are:

Preferred:
100
200
300

Full:
1600
1700
1800
1900

Partial:
1500
2000

Thanks, WOW, I did not realize that all of those loops are now all premium!

The bigger the trailer - the easier it is to back in. The Colonel will have an easier job backing in his 33 footer than somebody with a pop up. Tell him to take it to the lot outside the Commissary on Mondays when they are closed and practice a couple times.
