Premium sites are all pull-thru

I posted this in another ongoing thread but thought I'd start a new topic since that other thread hasn't been very active.

I just called Disney reservations to ask about their new Premium sites. I was told the roads in the Premium loops have been widened and ALL Premium sites are now pull-thru.

Does this agree with what others have seen or heard about the Premium sites? Hope the Staff is giving me correct info.

Thanks.

No, this is not accurate. The 500 loop, the only premium currently complete, has NO pull-thrus. The premium designation means the site has an extra-large concrete pad (no sand area), and a much wider mouth at the road, both of which serve to make them more big-rig friendly. The folks in the CRO are not Fort Wilderness cast and probably have no idea what a pull-thru is. There are precious few pull-thrus at FW and to the best of my knowledge, no more are scheduled.

There are only two pull thrus and they are next to each other IIRC and in the 1200 loop and have access to the road that runs thru the middle of the CG (Ft. Wilderness Trail).

Some of these phone people don't have a clue on some things.

DW tried to get ressies for the Haunted Carriage ride over the phone and no luck and said to try the concierge and so we went there and they said nope they don't let us make them that's handled at the Kennel. :rolleyes1 SAY WHAT :rotfl2: , so off to the Kennel and sure enough that's where you make them and they even have a waiting list since there are so many cancellations. :thumbsup2 That was yesterday and we were three on the list and got a call today for a cancellation for 10PM tonite, but that's way past my normal bed time. 9 P.M. is my limit this trip.

Sometimes you really have to work all the angles to get something and some things you have to be here to work.

Just returned from the fort and yes there is pull thru sites but they are as mentioned only in the 1200 loop the 500 loop is premium and i saw they were working on the 400 loop mid week last week so they will hopefully be done soon with that loop we were in the 1400 loop very nice our site was 1414 the extra concrete is nice for the bigger rigs but still saw tenters there also dont know how they staked there tents down but guess they found a way new grills looked nice but don't know if its worth the price for the premium for the average size rig or tenting depends on if you want more concrete or a place to stake your tent or if the dirt makes a difference to you

I had my doubts and that's why I came here to ask.

Are they widening the roads in those loops too or just the sites and site entrances?

I'm familiar with the other 2 pull-thru sites because we've been in those before.

Larry,

I see that you're currently at FW. Would you mind taking a look at the loop(s) that have already been changed to Premium sites and see if the roads have been widened along with the sites themselves?

Appreciate the effort if you have the time.

Thanks,
Jim

I'm down with the riff raft in a Joe Six Pack full hook up loop, but from the bus and driving around I don't see where they have done anything to the actual roads thru the loops, just the sites.

What kind/model of 5er and truck puts you at 65'?

If you go to page 3 of THIS THREAD you can see what they are doing to the sites.

Jim, apparently I don't strike you as a trustworthy source? Larry's link shows 800 loop under construction (and close to reopening, but changes could still happen), but the 500 loop is complete and now occupied... the roads have not been widened. Only the pad and mouth of the site have been widened. I'm sorry that you got bad info from a CRO cast-member. Those folks know a lot more about hotel rooms than they do campsites. I would suggest that this board is the best source of on-the-ground intel about FW, and would trust the rumors started here far more than something heard from a CRO or transportation cast member! LOL

Larry and Shan-man, thanks greatly for your inputs!

Having been in many of the loops before with shorter rigs it was still a chore getting backed in with the narrow roads, site posts, and other vehicles positioned in a way I could not get full maneuverability. The 700 loop was the worst. Since purchasing our new set-up we've been able to get one of the two existing pull-thru sites and there was never an issue.

Larry, we have a 38' 5'er pulled with a semi. Great set-up 99% of the time. Just a bit problematic at FW. Hopefully, that will change with the new Premium sites.

Thanks again, guys.

We stayed in 1203 and 1205 is the other Pull-Through site.
