Premium Plan for One Night Just for the Tours, LaNouba, etc.??

Okay, after reading this whole thread convinced hubby and he caved and did it. Didn't take much to convince him especially after I told him of the changes for next year. I am so excited!! We will be going in October, staying at POP and I have spent the whole day crunching times to see what we can get done in two days. Thank you guys so much, we could not have done this without you!

Now that Disney is requiring three nights for the Premium or Platinum Plan, how many are still going to book one of these pkgs for 2012? Or are you just going to say that you were glad to get it when you could book for only one night but no thanks for a three day deal?

Now that they are making the Premium and Plantium Plans a minium 3 nite stay I don't think I will do it again. I had the Premium Plan for 8 nites in 2006, and had it for two nites in 2010. In Sept we will be on Plantium for one nite. The things I haven't done before are Backstage Magic Tour, Victoria and Alberts, and the Wishes Cruise. For me to get the plan they would have to add several new things I would like.

I am going to be on Plantium Plan for one nite, and free dinning for 10 nites. For the one nite stay I had to buy a 1 day base ticket, and for the free dinning I had to buy a 2 day pass. Since I can't combine both tickets to get my 10 day ticket that I need for my vacation. Any suggestions on what to do with my one extra one day pass? On all my trips I always get the dinning so I will have it left over next time too.

I'm trying to get prices via Disney web and when I put in POP Century for one night, one day tickets all I get offered under dining is the premium plan as an option. I can't get the platinum plan to come up.

Do you have to call in to get rates for the platinum plan? Obviously, I'm trying to do bare bones, here.

Please help.

Platinum has to be at a Deluxe resort. Premium can be at other resorts.

Ok....I have been lurking on your thread for several months mulling over this possibility for one of my upcoming trips ( Aug - week, Oct-4 days, Thanksgiving - week ) and althouth it's a little late in the game I think we may try this on our August trip. I am thinking of the Platinum Plan because I like to do the fireworks cruise ( and my mom has not been on one ) and always get the photopass anyway ( and it would be included ).

So to all that have gone before : ::worship:

* I know some of you have done this in the summer months...Are we insane to consider this - regarding the heat? Im thinking maybe of one of the big tours one day , and some water sports the next...along with lots of 2credit dinners/shows & fireworks cruise ( which is not a heat issue ). My party is my mother 65, son 7, and myself 40.

* I was considering the Animal kingdom Lodge to save a few bucks ( and I love it there) , but was disappointed to see some have had difficulty with the IPO there, it is also a bit out of the way. So now I think I will splurge and do the Poly ( too bad I will be running around & not enjoying it). I am thinking of the Poly for location AND my 7 year old.

Here is one of my questions: Platinum plan includes watersports, bike rentals etc. IF my mom& I take a tour which excludes kids AND we use a provided sitter from Kids Nite Out, can the sitter use my son's keycard to rent bikes etc. Or can I prearrange it. I'm just trying to think of things they can do while we are out. I'm not sure they are allowed to take the kids swimming. The Neverland Club would be great but it's only open in the evenings.

I would like to give this a try, and if all goes well maybe repeat on one of my Fall trips - especially since 2012 will require 3+ days.

Thank you all!!!!!

Hi everyon, I am the one who was having problems woth the IPO at AKL. But it was only with one lady. Juanita Diane Unfortunately Iw as never able to deal with anyone one else and she kept screwing up everything. By the end when I requested an email verifying my cancelations for Victoria and ALberts and Wishes Cruise etc.. I finally got it and she had me booked for Victoria and Albert's 3 times and the wishes cruise. bass fishing, and golf lessons.
Anyway, if you can work wth someone other than her, I think you'd have better luck.

I say . . . Go for it! My 2 BFF's and I did a Girls Only Premium last July, and on Monday July 11th we'll be leaving for a Girls Only Platinum. (we had hoped to make this an annual event but now with the 3-day minimum I guess that's not gonna happen) Anyway, we loved our summer Premium Plan! In retrospect there is only one activity that we would not have done, because of the summer heat, and that was the Fort Wilderness 11:30 am Segway tour. It was just too dang hot, and the training portion of the program was in a totally unshaded area. BRUTAL!!! Everything else, which included Parasailing, Tubing, Jetskiing, Wild by Design at AK, Cirque, Hoop de Doo, a carriage ride, and 3 fabulous meals at Fulton's, Narcoossee's, and the Hoop - - worked out great! So enjoy your summer Platinum Plan! (if you haven't booked yet, check the Wilderness Lodge as I think it is the same price as Animal Kingdom Lodge)

As far as the child care questions, sorry, I don't know any of the answers.

Your son will absolutely love the water activities and the Sammy Duvall staff is wonderful!

Didn't have a chance to read through all posts, so perhaps someone mentioned this, but after reading first few I immediately went to WDW web site to book and it clearly states a 3 night minimum for Premium and Platinum...I tried to book a few random dates for one or two nights, just to be sure and every time it came up "no availablility"

:(

yes - the 2012 Platinum and Premium packages are advertised as a 3 night minimum. Were you trying 2012 dates?

if you were going for a vacation package of some kind. There probably is a minimum stay for a package.

Also, try calling and see if you can do it for one night.

We loved the Premium 1-day we did in September 2010. I was in the middle of planning a Platinum for this fall, but we just had a HUGE vet bill come up that took enough of a chunk out of our vacation budget that we have now scaled back to a 'stay-cation' instead. Love our Bichon Frise who has been an exceptional family pet so putting him down while in excellent health just because of severe dental issues (genetic - reabsorbsion of teeth root) was not an option, but sure would rather have done the Platinum!

DH probably won't agree to a 3-day pkg at a deluxe, so if not this year, we probably will never do it. We might, however, try the Premium again.

Sorry to hear that your Bichon has had dental issues. Hope he is okay and that you enjoy him for many more years! We have a Bichon also, and same as yours, she has been a wonderful loving pet for 11 years. . . and also has serious dental problems! She has had to have many teeth extracted already and it is quite expensive.

My thoughts about booking a future Premium Plan package on the 3-day minimum . . . perhaps I'll consider it if I can sometime book during a "dark" Cirque week - that is, if they still offer the $85 gift card per guest when Cirque is dark, which will lower the total cost enough to possibly entice me again.

We will no longer be doing this since they made the change. I had planned a wonderful trip for our 25th wedding anniversary in Feb doing the 1-night, but the problem now for us is 3-4 days of absolute non-stop frenzy, and now doing things we really weren't interested in just to fill it up and get value, it is no longer appealing to us... that's just our opinion.

I even looked into paying cash for the things we wanted to do but either way it is now just too cost prohibitive.
Oh well.... was fun for some while it lasted :)

if we do the Plat plan, are there spa services my kids can use ? ( one is 11 the other 7 ) Can I use their credits ?( I assume there would be no problem with me using the older one's credit as we are paying for her as an adult- but what about the child ?)
thanks

Although you are paying adult prices for the 11 yr old, children have to be 12 and older in order to partake in spa services. So no credits for use there. Last year the age limit was 10 and older. :(

The Plat has a lot more kid limitations, therefore, not as friendly as the Prem.

Does any one know if you have to show kids ID for the Aqua Seas tour ? I am wondering just how strict they are with the age as my daughter turns 8 about a week after our trip, and she wanted to go this tour Do you think they'll let her in ?
