Premium Plan for One Night Just for the Tours, LaNouba, etc.??

If they would let you change your booking, make night #1 a 1 night stay at GF with the 6day pass and 1-day Plat package. That way you don't have to pay anymore to meet the Plat requirement for 1-night stay and 1day pass. IF they will do that without charging you anymore (did you have any discounts on your stay that would be affected?), then your only additional cost would be $229 ea for the Plat package.... but you HAVE to buy it for all 4 of you, and you would have to do V&A and La Nouba while the package was active.
Make sense?
So here's your problem... V&A is $133 ea and La Nouba is around $91, so if all 4 were going to both you would break even basically. BUT all 4 of you aren't going (guessing since you mentioned Neverland for the kids) which means you would lose money.

For this plan to work, especially with 4 people on it, you have to really maximize the extra features that are available, otherwise it's just cheaper to pay OOP.

Check out this thread for a lot of great info on how this works and how to make it work for you.

Platinum Plan Ideas

Thank you soooo much for your help! That was just the answer I hoped for as I would have been kicking myself all the way to Orlando if I missed out. I completely forgot to factor in a 1 night stay at GF without the spring discount which is what we are booked under. I admire those of you that do have this plan of attack all straight though! The seed has definitely been planted though and I'm sure I'll be back here one day!

After breaking down our trip in detail to see if we really needed DDP on both ends of our platinum night, we have decided we do NOT! :thumbsup2 I was having a hard time trying to fit in all of the meals because for the 2nd "half" of the trip, we are spending 2 days off-site (Universal and Discovery Cove) and had already planned 2 meals that aren't part of the DDP (Shula's and Rainforest Cafe at AK). Once I started crunching numbers (seems to be my hobby these days), I realized that even paying OOP for our food the last 7 days, we'll come out about $350 ahead by forgoing the DDP.

SO, what that means is, the actual difference in cost to us for adding the platinum night to our package is $300, plus whatever we pay OOP for the food that would have been on DDP otherwise (I estimated about $450). I am so excited!!!

In case you wonder about my numbers...we are down to 2 real adults and 1 Disney adult. DSS may not be able to join us for the entire trip, but we're trying to finagle him into coming down just for the platinum night:

Segment 1 (3 adults):
5 nights Poly TPV room + 10 day Park Hoppers + DDP = $4776

Segment 2 (4 adults):
1 night Poly TPV room + 1 day, 1 park tickets + Platinum upgrade = $1900

Segment 3 (3 adults):
6 nights Poly TPV room only = $3645

GRAND TOTAL = $10,321

If I booked 12 nights at the Poly in a TPV room + 10 day park hoppers + DDP for the entire trip it would cost me $10,031. So, I'm losing the DDP for half of the trip, but again, OOP food costs come in at least a couple hundred dollars less than DDP cost for that portion based on our itinerary. :goodvibes

I'll have to post our plans later. Now all I have to do is actually pull the trigger and book it!

**ETA: Everything is quoted at rack rate right now since there are no discounts available at the moment for our dates. The numbers might change a little if I can get discounts on either side of the platinum plan, but for now, I'm happy!**

The overall value for everything I have planned for the Platinum part of the trip is $2573.08 (including PhotoPass CD). So for the cost of adding the Platinum plan for one night for me and my wife ($458.00) I come out ahead $2115.08!!! :woohoo: :dance3: Yes, it's a lot to pack in but I've tried to limit the amount of walking and backtracking. My plan also requires the minimum number of park tickets and doesn't require any hopping. It does require three reservations (a one night room only, a one night platinum package and a two night regular dining package). Let me know any thoughts on my plan and if anyone sees and problems, discrepancies or issues. Thanks!!!

I am trying to do the math to see if it would make sense to do this for one night. Anyone know what the cost of the spa treatments are? THANKS!!

In Nov. 2010 the massage at GF spa was $120 and gratuity WAS included with the platinum plan on that so I considered the value to be $144 per person.

Are tips included for meals too?

No.. with the exception of pizza delivery, in room dining, dinner shows and Cinderella Royal Table. I could be missing one... but like the standard and deluxe meal plans tips are not included.
Nice to see you here, Jessica!:goodvibes

Thanks, Jami! You too! (P.S. I got my photopass CD last night!)

I need some input to see if this sounds feesible-I'm trying to hammer out the details so I can start getting these things booked.

6/7,Tues-1 night RO at CSR

6/8,Wed-Premium at CSR
8:30AM Backstage Safari Tour
12PM Lunch at Rainforest AK
Back to CSR for a break
4PM Photo Session at WL
6PM Carriage Ride Ft Wilderness
7:15 HDDR

6/9,Thurs- 6 nights of Deluxe Dining CSR
7AM Fishing Excursion from YC
9:30AM Segway Around the World Epcot
12PM LeCellier Lunch (credits from DxDp)
1:30 Behind the Seeds Tour
Sea Raycer from YC
Back to CSR to rest a bit
7PM Dinner at Fulton's
9PM Cirque du Soleil

There were other things I wanted to do-horseback riding, mini-golf-but there just isn't enough time and I'm concerned about us being exhausted.

I'm most worried about getting to the Segway tour on time from the Fishing Excursion. Do you think our fishing guide would cut the excursion a little bit short (15 min) so that we would make our tour on time?

Also will we be able to enter from the International Gateway to get to the front for the Segway tour?

On Friday we are going to plan a very lazy day at Blizzard Beach and the resort-I think we'll need it:rotfl:

SnowWhite...

Think your plan is workable, with a couple of exceptions.

You said Premium for 6/8, which comes with 3 TS meals. What were you using those credits on? You mentioned Rainforest that 1st day, but I they are not on the Dining Plan, so you can't use any cress on that meal.
Also, if I remember correctly the fishing excursions are a 2 hour trip... Not sure you could do that and make it back for your Segway tour at 9:30

Other than these 2 things, sounds good!

You know I think that the one in DTD is included on Premium, it is listed on the brochure, but I don't see the one at AK listed there. Hmmm, that makes a big difference to the plan. Maybe we'll be skipping the AK tour.

Ohiodad - I have YET To do this plan but I do want to. I have been following this thread but your hour by hour time thing is AWESOME!! We would travel well together! :0 I copied and pasted it for future reference. Your the only plan I ever cut and copied so you must be close to perfect. Great job! melissa

Wow! Live and learn...

I had never noticed Rainforest on the list for DTD. Listen, I don't know if you would necessarily have to skip the tour if you can't do Rainforest (I would ask them... maybe it's a typo and they do take the plan). If RF doesn't work, you could still have lunch at Yak & Yeti's which is very good and has good variety for picky eaters as well, OR take bus over to AK Kidani and go to Sanaa for lunch. Very nice!
I think you have actually a good plan with some good rest times in there. You have by my calculations, over $400 of value out of the plan and that is without the 3rd meal, so honestly you could eat anywhere, since it doesn't have to be BIG $$ to make the package better, you know what I mean?

I don't know why I missed your other comments, but you asked about cutting short the fishing excursion. I seem to have read somehwere that someone had asked and they wouldn't do it, but I honestly don't know that for sure. As far as your ability to go through International entrance to go to Segway tour, the answer is yes. Since that particular tour requires that you have park admittance to do, you can enter wherever you want (but you will need a park ticket).

Sorry, meant to respond to your post and forgot :)
I think overall, your planning is almost scary.... exactly how OCD are you? :lmao:

J/K ... I mean "scary" in a complimentary way... well though out.

I very much like the layout of your plan, even down to parking car in valet at locations where you will pick it up to be most efficient. The only thing I see that looks a little "wishful thinking" would be the fishing excursion. I guarantee you won't be abler to make it from fishing boat to the front of the park through Int gateway in 15 minutes... how fast can you run the mile? You will need to figure out a way to get some more minutes there. Also, I would try to get out of V&A a little sooner, or if possible start dinner a few mins earlier. You probably need to plan on at least 15 more minutes to get checked in for cruise. Other than that, as long as you don't have any "surprises" that take longer (you have booked yourselves pretty tight), you should be golden!!
Be honest, even if you weren't able to do one thing on your list because of time, you still will get max value... so I say, go for it! Relax and don't let a snag ruin it for you if something comes up :thumbsup2

Also will we be able to enter from the International Gateway to get to the front for the Segway tour?

You should have no problem enterting from the International Gateway, all guests coming from the EPCOT resort area have to enter EPCOT there whether the World Showcase is open or not. You'll have to go to Guest Relations (near Spaceship Earth) to check in for the Segway Tour so its not QUITE as far as going all the way back to the main entrance (but close!). They'll want you to be there at 9:15 for 9:30 tour, if that helps in your planning any.

The only other possible timing issue I saw was the 7 pm Fulton's followed by 9pm La Nouba. Maybe it's just my experience but the service we had at Fulton's was extremely slow and it was a good 2+ hours for us to eat the three courses. It probably takes 10-15 minutes to walk to La Nouba and they recommend that you get there by 8:30 I believe. Of course you don't HAVE to do what they recommend, but I wouldn't want to rush through my meal worrying about it. If you can make the Fulton's reservation a little earlier, I would.

I think Fulton's is a popular choice on these plans so hopefully others will chime in with their experiences. Personally, Fulton's was one of my least favorite signature dining experiences but I think I am in the minority on that opinon!

You know, I totally forgot about that... good spot :thumbsup2
We have only eaten at Fulton's one time, but we had same experience... slow service. As far as the food, we were paying OOP and I didn't think it was worth the cost, but maybe I 'd feel different on the DP :)
Food was good , but certainly not great.
Maybe SnowWhite should do Rainforest while in DTD, since that is one she was interested ... however they can be slow as well :)

<edit> OR maybe Wolfgang Puck's? Their food is Yummy!!

So no one has any suggestions or feedback on my plan? I guess I'm perfect after all! :cool1:

I think your plan looks good too. Really busy, but especially since you are not relying Disney Transportation and you are allowing plenty of time, I think you will be fine.

As far as what Papamouse1 said about the timing of the fishing excursion and the Dolphins in Depth, I thought that too at first but then I realized you actually have plenty of time there, you've just given yourself half an hour to sit outside waiting for the tour to start! :-) You'll need to be OUTSIDE the park (front) in front of guest relations at 9:30 for the 9:45 Dolphin tour. So really, if you end your fishing excursion at 9 you'll have half an hour to walk from Yacht Club to the front of Epcot and I think that is enough time. In reality even if you show up at 9:40 they're not gonna leave you behind (I wouldn't PLAN on arriving that late though).

What time does Wishes start on the night you're doing the cruise? I can't remember exactly but I think you'll need at least a full hour before the fireworks start for the cruise. (They do a tour before hand). Victoria and Albert's really did take us a full 3 hours -- I doubt you can rush them and I don't think you'd want to anyway :-) So you might want to make sure your times are solid there.

Otherwise it looks great!

I'm glad to hear we have a similar opinion about Fulton's! I thought I was the only one who wasn't totally wowed. The food was good (not great, like you said) but there is NO way I would be happy paying those prices if I wasn't on some type of plan. We were seated in the hallway area on the second floor and it was like grand central station through there, people rushing through constantly. Coupled with the slow service it made for pretty mediocre ambiance for what is supposed to be a signature dining experience.

I much prefer the seafood and atmosphere at Narcoosees and of course California Grill is just miles above in every way, but I realize those are not convenient for Downtown Disney goers. Wolfgang Puck might be a good choice, I can't remember is the Upstairs location included on the premium plan? Its closer to La Nouba too.
