... we've been able to book our seats as we're now less than 90 days

Booked outward week or so ago - we're on the 2 cabin airbus .... managed to get the second from back row, 2 together - happy - hoping that means speedy exit from plane and minimal immigration queue (this year we were 3 from the back in economy - literally 6 people behind us in the queue rest of plane in front so anything will be better than that!)

Could book home yesterday - 747, split PE/economy cabin upstairs. I have no comparison, this is our first PE flight ever - so I'm not bothered that the bubble isn't what it used to be, that the economy passengers will get off before me ... I'm wondering (I don't sleep well on planes) will the upper cabin be quieter (and therefore I'm likely to get some sleep - I realise I can't control a screaming child etc)?

I've booked us two upstairs - but is downstairs any better?

I realise this is probably all academic and Virgin have the right to switch us etc etc - but assuming we do get our choices (have managed to for the past 3 trips) where would you sit??

I would have probably gone for the same as you. :)

IMO both the downstairs PE and the upstairs are quiet in the return flight. I've not flown since they changed to a split cabin but wouldn't imagine it being much different.

personally I would not book PE in the mixed bubble. We def are not going to this year. The reason is that its small up there and it was fine when just PE but with quite a few extra people crammed in I am going to avoid it. We are going to book (hopefully) the dedicated downstairs cabin instead. That way you are def going tobe off straight after Upper class as well. :) I do think that there is more chance of it being quieter downstairs in the dedicated cabin but obviously its not a certainty. (the nature of the flight is more children/babies travel in economy)

I went upstairs in economy last year and there is not that many economy up there, i liked it as it was so quiet. I think it was four rows or 3 and 3 u there for economy

There are 6 rows and 33 people in economy in the bubble and 20 PE seats..its very claustophobic Imo with 53 people up there...

There used tobe 32 people in the PE bubble before the refurb!

We have just 'booked' our seats for our Easter trip. We are downstairs on the way out (2 cabin plane) and we are going to try upstairs on the way home. Like you say, we need to be off the plane quick on arrival at MCO so we are at the back of the PE cabin. Not so bothered about a quick exit on the way home so we are trying the bubble, not sure how it will be now that it is a mixed cabin but at least if we try it we will then know our preferences for the future!

Ali :goodvibes

We did PE on A330 going out and PE 747 in the bubble on return journey.
On 747 overhead lockers are very small and will not take a full size cabin bag. Also Economy got off loaded before PE our flight as they are nearer the stairs. The central aisle is huge which allows you to easily pass when the trolley is serving. I would be happy in either plane.

We flew Virgin PE last year, going out we were downstairs front row, coming back we were front row in the bubble. It was much quieter upstairs and they held the downstairs up to let us come down and disembark.
