Premium AP parking question

I'm considering upgrading my Deluxe AP to a Premium AP on an upcoming trip for the added parking benefit and greater discounts. I have two quick questions about parking, though:

-it is good at any of the parking locations, not just the Mickey & Friends structure, correct? I was hoping to park at the Toy Story lot since it's nearer to our hotel.

-how does paying for parking work on the day that I upgrade, since I won't have the Premium AP until after I get to the gate and upgrade? Do I pay and then get reimbursed for the parking after I upgrade, or am I on the hook paying for parking that first day?

Pay for parking and bring the receipt to the ticket booth. They will reimburse you there.

Yes it's good at toy story as well. And yes they reimburse you for parking that day.

There is the option of adding just parking to a lower level AP for $129 (I think that's the cost). The additional 5% is a lot of purchasing to break even-especially if you upgrade multiple passes. Definitely nice though to go anytime and not worry about it.

Thanks!

One of the days we're visiting this trip is going to be a blackout day anyway, so I'll have that cost to factor into whether it's worth it for me to upgrade or not. I'm viewing it like this right now:

Cost if I upgrade to Premium: $180

Cost if I don't upgrade to Premium: $70/blackout day, $30/ART passes for family so we don't pay to park.

So in reality, the upgrade will only cost me out of pocket $80. I'll probably make up at least half that from increased discounts with two extended trips coming up, and I'll also have the added convenience of not having to worry about the ART schedule since buses to the Toy Story lot run pretty much non-stop.

I'm very good at talking myself into spending money. ;)

I do recommend upgrading for the parking alone, and I do recommend parking at the Toy Story lot if you're driving. But if your hotel is in the vicinity of the lot, you might save the cost of the parking. I make the walk from Disneyland to the Toy Story lot frequently myself, and it's surprisingly easy.

You also get better discounts if you upgrade so keep that in mind. :)

Thought I'd bump this for one final question before our trip next week-- since my plan is to park at the Toy Story lot then upgrade my AP that first morning, can I actually do the upgrade at the ticket counter at the Toy Story lot, or do I have to go to the regular ticket booth at the park?

I think you have to do it at the regular ticket booths. Toy Story lot is a tiny operation and basically sell one day tickets and multi day passes. Aps is a bit more complicated so you will probably have to do it when you get to the park. That said I COULD be wrong lol, so of course ask, but I'm pretty sure you cant.

But yes I have to say getting the premium was the best decision I made. If you go enough you really start to see the savings rack up (of course if I went less I would be saving more period lol). But the parking is the best deal. I mean if you are a local and you go 10 times a year you already saved $150 alone on parking.

I went ahead and asked just on the off chance they could, and it turns out you can pretty much do anything at the little portable Toy Story counter that you can at the main ticket booth, as long as you're not using cash. Over the course of our trip, I upgraded my AP to Premium using gift cards and bought a blockout ticket for my daughter's Deluxe AP, also using giftcards. Saved us time waiting in line at the main ticket booths!
