ok question...we are planning on going down to the ft. in oct & may ('11) for our family, it is cheaper to buy the ap...bc we are coming from IN and usually stay 9-10 days --so in the long haul its cheaper to do it this way. From what I read about the ap its starts at the date of purchase....so I need to hold off and go to dtd and buy the ap the day we get there? or is there a voucher I can buy it now (and start paying on it) and then redeem it once we get there? How does this work exactly?

Thanks :confused3

Unless there was a drastic change this year AP's aren't active until you first use them at a park. The 366 day clock starts at the turnstile.

I'm pretty sure the time on an AP starts the day it is activated. (the first day you use it) hope that helps

The one year starts from the day you activate the pass. You can buy online now and print off the voucher. When you get to WDW, visit a ticket window, show them your voucher, and they will print off your passes. Each pass is a paper ticket which looks just like the regular tickets but has each person's name on the back.

Remember you can use your pass for discounts on shopping and (some) dining. You should receive an information booklet when you get your passes.

ok this is the info that confused me,...this is what was on DIS main site

Disney World Annual Passport

The Annual pass is good for 365 days from the date of purchase. If you purchase a Annual Pass voucher which must be activated at WDW, the 365 day clock begins on the day you activate it.

The Walt Disney World Co. reserves the right to revoke this pass if it is presented by anyone other than the passholder of record or if the passholder of record violates park policies.

PLEASE NOTE: When renewing, you must do so within 30 days of your pass expiring. Your "start date" remains the same. Renew Online

OK---from this...it says its good for 365 from purchase date...but from what everyone else is saying on the boards its from the date you use it? This is why I'm confused....

Some people buy it there and activate it. Others, like myself may buy it 6 months in advance of my trip and activate it the day we arrive. It is good from the date of activation, not the date of purchase.

so is the DIS boards wrong? or do you think this is possibly something new?

The Annual pass is good for 365 days from the date of purchase. If you purchase a Annual Pass voucher which must be activated at WDW, the 365 day clock begins on the day you activate it.

365 days from date of purchase means if you were to go to a ticket window on your first day in the parks and bought annual passes in person. The year would start from that purchase date.

If you buy a voucher online, you print it, and take it to a ticket window when you get to WDW and the 365 days starts from picking up your tickets from the window. If you buy the tickets online 6 months before you go, they are not activated. The voucher you print out has a barcode that is scanned at the ticket window and activates your passes for one year.

I did this in May. We purchased our premium passes online at the beginning of May and printed our voucher. We went to WDW on May 28. We went to guest services at MK, handed them our printed voucher, and received tickets that are good till May 28, 2011.

It has always been on the day of activation. If you buy before you go you get a voucher not a pass. You will have to take the voucher to DTD or any park to get your passes. What we have done before is buy one every few months through out the year and have them all activated when we get to Disney.

Unless there was a drastic change this year AP's aren't active until you first use them at a park. The 366 day clock starts at the turnstile.

If this is a brand new AP, it's dated according to the first time you use it & will expire 365 days from first usage. When you renew the pass, your anniversary date remains the same date from year to year. You used to be able to purchase renewal vouchers that didn't become active until the first usage, but Disney caught on to the fact they were losing $$ and changed it. Disney will allow you to renew your AP's within 30 days of your anniversary date for a discounted rate. Your renewal date is now the day of expiration regardless of when you used the renewed pass for the first time. Under the former plan, you still had to renew within 30 days of the expiration date to get the discounted pricing, but your anniversary date became the date you first converted the renewal voucher into the actual pass.

I've had AP's since 1990. Trust me, I know these things.

thankyou for clearing this up for me....I don't know why it was so confusing,...lol:confused:

I'm glad, so now I can buy my ap's.... and start paying those off :)
