Hi. I haven’t been to Disney World since they launched these two items. We are talking about planning a trip.

Can someone give a quick overview of the two and how they work? When can you buy? For multi when can you book? Tiers?

Can you still buy fast passes? Timing for buying and booking? Our last trip it was 7 am day of.

Anything else I need to know?

Thank you!

I did a search and checked for a sticky thread but didn’t see a thread if I missed it let me know.

If you are staying at a Disney Resort you can purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass or a Premiere Pass at 7am exactly 7 days before check in for the length of your stay. If it’s a Multi Pass you can also book lightning lanes for 3 attractions per day also at 7am 7 days before check in. You will be able to book another lightning lane each time you use a lightning lane on the day you’re in the park, subject to availability. You cannot get a lightning lane twice for the same attraction. With the premiere pass you can go on every attraction one time without the need to book the rides. If you are not staying at a Disney World resort you can do all this just three days ahead of each park day. You will need to do it in your My Disney Experience App and you will need your Park Ticket before hand.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass

  1. You select up to 3 rides in advance. Once you use one at the park, you can book another one, effectively "rolling" your 3 reservations throughout the day.
  2. You can only pick one "high-demand" ride (Tier 1) in your initial three, with the other two coming from Tier 2. After using your first LL of the day the tiers are removed, and you can book anything you want.
  3. The absolute top rides (like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind) are not included. You have to buy those separately as "Single Passes" (usually $12–$25 each).
  4. You can get a pass that covers all the parks in a day, if you want to park hop
  5. You can only use 1 per ride.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass

  1. You simply walk up to the Lightning Lane entrance of any ride, scan your band/phone, and enter. You can do this once per ride.
  2. It includes everything in the Multi Pass catalog plus the high-end Single Pass attractions.
  3. It's only good for one park no park hopping unless you pay again.

Thank you! We plan to stay in property.

The Lightning Lane Systems (Single Pass, Multi Pass, and Premiere Pass) replaced the Fastpass+ system. There was a Genie+ system between Fastpass+ and Multi Pass, but that is also now extinct. The current systems are COMPLICATED. I don't know of a single source that provides all of the ins and outs of using the systems (especially Multi Pass) to its fullest. Prior posters have given you some of the basics, but it isn't that simple. That's not really a criticism of those posts. I couldn't explain it all in a forum post either.

The official webpage is found here:https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/lightning-lane-passes/

Open up the links on that webpage for more details, like which Multi Pass attractions are in Tier 1 versus Tier 2. (Those are not terms Disney uses, but are how most of us describe what Disney calls "this group" and "this group.") There are many Disney-related unofficial websites that have there own explanations, either in print or video. One video that I recommend is here:

EDIT: If that video looks too long, the first 25 minutes is the more important part.
