Premier AP benefit ?'s

We will be going to DL in May to celebrate my son's college graduation, then to WDW in August. I checked and the price for the tickets for both trips would be about $700. I know the premier pass is $1400+. For the DL trip we would have 2 rooms at the DLH, and the WDW trip would probably be a 2 bdrm DVC through Disney (can't rent points this trip because dates may change). How much on average could I plan to save on rooms for those 2 trips. I know I would also get a discount on dining. Do you think I could "break even" if I bought the AP?

I don't think you break even. Especially when you consider multiple people would need the pass. That said, do you live reasonably close to either park so that you could get in one more visit? Also keep in mind that if you had the pass you could tack on half days on either end of both trips which would normally cost you 4 more park days. You don't get a flat discount on rooms at least at dlr. Maybe just get one premier ap for the discount.

It includes Maxpass. I currently have the premier and it's included. Since the price hasn't changed on the pass in over a year I don't think the landing page for it has been updated to show it.

The pass is basically a combo of the Signature Plus pass at Disneyland and the Platinum Plus pass at Disney World.

I agree that unless you're making multiple trips to at least one of the resorts, it's rather hard to "break even" in terms of the Premier AP price. I think you could probably break even on one Premier AP (to get the WDW room discounts, the dining and shopping discounts, Photopass (if you use this), parking, etc.), but breaking even on everyone's pass would be matter of how many days you plan to be in the parks on each trip and that seems less likely with only one trip to each resort planned.

We (DH + me) are Disneyland locals. As such, we go a few times a month and would normally buy the Signature+ Pass. We also go to WDW for about a week/year or more. For us, breaking even on the Premier Pass is relatively easy with the discounts we get in WDW. We don’t factor in discounts at Disneyland since we spend more in the long run going so often

Same here. I find the break even point to be if you were going to buy a 6 day park hopper for WDW as it's the equivalent of upgrading to the premier from a renewed Signature Plus ($495 and change for park hopper and $496 and change for the upgrade).

I agree that with your planned trips, it may be difficult to break even. Premier is best when you would already get an AP at one of the parks, plus planning other trip(s) to the other park.

For WDW hotel discounts, the AP ones have been about 5% more than the general public room-only discounts. Though the availability is more limited; for example, in my March trip I am staying at AKL. I could either get a standard view with the 25% GP discount for about $315/night, but the cheapest for AP discounts was either a pool view $350/night or savannah $387/night. So, I wouldn't absolutely count on getting any sort of hotel discount, as it may not be available for your room type/dates.

For DLR hotel discounts, they usually only apply Sunday-Thursday.

Discounts do add up, depending on where you are eating, what you are buying, and how many people will be using the discount. But, like PP said, if you have one person getting the AP, then everyone could benefit from the discounts.

Thank you everyone for your help. I may look into getting a pass for me, and then just buy tickets for each of the other members. Especially since now I'm not sure that two of the people will be going on both trips.
