Premarin?

Have any of you ladies tried Premarin cream? My gyn prescribed it today; I'm leary of anything with hormones. Have you used it and liked the results - any side effects?

I'm leery of anything made from pregnant mare urine.

There are synthetic alternatives. I'd check into those. The conditions under which Premarin is "harvested" are pretty deplorable.

I don't know the specific cream or if it applies to all hormonal creams, but I have heard that it isn't safe for pets or babies/toddlers to have contact with these products. The skin-to-skin contact with babies can cause premature genital growth. If a pet licks the cream off the area where applied, it can cause the animal to go into heat or have symptoms of heat if spayed. Also it can cause enlargement of the genitals.

Women using these creams have been advised to apply them to the thigh area rather than the arms. This is where I read about this:

Some info on the production of Premarin. A google search can give a lot more info.

Honestly didn't know this was still being prescribed.
