Does anything special happen at a Prem"ear" at sea? I've been trying to search the boards but I can't find anything.....

The new Herbie movie comes out on June 22nd and I was wondering what happens besides the movie being shown in the Walt Disney Theater rather than the Buena Vista Theater.

One night on each 7-night cruise (normally tropical/pirate night), a recent Disney movie or appropriate Touchstone movie is the shown twice in the big Walt Disney Theatre instead of a stage show or variety show. The movie could be a week old or a month old at that point, depending on the timing of Buena Vista's movie releases in the United States. "Does anything special happen?" No, not really.

Then, there are the cases when a Disney movie or appropriate Touchstone movie is released on a Friday in U.S. movie theaters. For example, "Home on the Range" was released during our last cruise. "Home on the Range" was shown in the Walt Disney Theatre Friday morning at 12:01 a.m., Friday afternoon at 1:45 p.m., and Friday night at 10:30 p.m. "Does anything special happen?" Again, no. There was no stage show or special activity accompanying the movie.

i agree they do a premiere of the movie in the walt disney theater but nothing else special happens.

I think that I have seen some pins that were available for certain prem-ears at sea on Ebay but that didn't happen on our cruises so I'm not sure.

That's good to know! The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe comes out during our cruise this December. We were wondering if we would be able to see it on the ship!

We got to see the Premear of The Pacifier at 12:01 am on our February cruise. There was no big deal made but it was fun. In 2000 The Tigger movie came out. That was fun because they had an afternoon showing with special alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks for the kids that were supposed to match the theme.

We left on our Eastern cruise in March the day after Ice Princess was released. Don't know whether they showed it at 12:01 Friday on the prior cruise, but on our cruise it wasn't shown until Wednesday night, when it was the evening entertainment in the Walt Disney Theatre.

Brother Bear "prem-eared" during our 11/03 cruise and the movie was shown in the WDT and we did get special buttons to mark the occasion.

I believe they treat "prem-ear's" of animated movies different than other Disney movies. They do tend to have something to mark the prem-ear of the animated movies but all others are just shown sometime during the cruise.

Finding Nemo Prem"ear"ed during our May, 2003 trip. They actually changed the day and time of the children's "show" from Friday to Thursday to accommodate additional showings of Nemo. The kids also got buttons that said, "I saw it first at sea".

A couple of years ago we attended Prem"ear" at sea. They had CM line the hall to the theater asking for autographs and taking picture. Red carpet included. There was also a video camera taking capturing the event and shown on the screen.

Last year we attended another Prem"ear" at sea and it was just a movie show in the theater.
