I just found out I'm going to have a second child :goodvibes . The baby is going to be due, by my calculations, between late April and early June. We had planned on going to WDW early May! :confused3 So, as to not make my 3 yo DD resentful of new baby (because she is already SO excited about WDW) we are thinking of going in January. How is the weather, crowds, attractions, etc... :wizard:

Thanks for your help! :wave2:

Weather will be on the chilly side in the evenings. Crowds will be low except for MLK weekend which will be moderate. You should have a wonderful time!

We are going this year in Jan. 2 years ago I was 8 weeks pregnant and we went in Jan and the weather was great (mid 80's every day but one) However it can be hit or miss. Really pregnant it is much better to go in the winter. You can still get tons done and not get too hot.

We will be there Jan 4 to 11th this year.

How far along will you be, 4 or 5 months then, that would be a great time to go. Much better then with a newborn and a great one last trip with your oldest getting to be an only child. We did that with ours and it was great (Vero Beach in May 2004 before baby was born in Aug.)

Have you seen this site? If you do a seach you cand find a "due date finder" also. Sign up for the prengnacy calander and it gives you weekly or bi weekly updates.

Congrats.

I think January is the absolute perfect time to go...lovely, dry weather and lots of nice sun....such a great change from hot summers in FL....crowds are minimal (except over MLK weekend and not too bad then)

At worst it will be chilly in the AMs and PM's....but chances are sweatshirts will be enough. Not an ideal time for hanging out at the pool...but there are so many other things to do it won't matter much.

Besides...it will be a nice time in your pregnancy....you will still be able to see your feet and you will have passed the first trimester fatigue and nausea...a great time for a family trip with the 3 of you....you can talk about all of the things your DD can show her new baby about WDW the next time you come....it will be a great memory for her.

Best wishes to you in your pregnancy!!

Congratulations. :flower: I think you should definatly go in Jan, there are less crowds, and it's less hot. Me and DBF are going to try and have a baby right after my vacation. I simply refused to try before, since if I did get pregnant, I wouldn't be able to ride Tower of Terror. :flower:

Thanks everyone. :grouphug: I think I'll be about 20 weeks. I hope I won't be as big as my last pregnancy! :rotfl: Do you think the crowds are much less in Jan., except MKL, than in early May? I had originally planned a day and a half in MK, but I wonder if we can cram it in one day?

I did MK in a day the last time we went in Jan, we were able to see the mountains, and most of the other major attractions.

But then again you may want to give it a day and a half since you will be a few months pregnant.

I depends on when in Jan you are talking about. They are around the same since school is in both times. Either way it is not crowded and a good time to go. Make sure to check the weather before you leave and pack acordingly. It could be warm and sunny, or rather chilly (or a few days of both).

Either way Jan is a much better time for you family this year, and this way you get to go sooner! When we are going the marathon should be there. It did not effect park crowds at all, but it does tend to fell up a few resorts. (Epcot ones mostly). We are planning to stay at SSR or AKL and both have lots of room last check (last week.)

Thanks. I haven't decided between early or late January. I just want it to be memorable and special.

We went to WDW for the first time as a family in early Feb. when I was almost 5 mos. pregnant w/ our 2nd child. Weather was perfect for us ... cool in the evenings but lovely during the day. Rode all the rides I wanted. Had lots of nice gentlemen offering me their seats on various modes of transportation. If we weren't going in early Dec. for our next trip, we'd definitely go back in early Feb.

I have my first OB appointment on Monday, so I'll find out exactly how far along I am.

I think we've decided Jan.2- Jan.7. I figured the 2nd is a Monday, so most people will probably head out by then. Right?

Thanks for all your help! :earsgirl:

You could do a search, there have been a couple of threads on "when do your kids go back to school after Christmas?" and a few folks have said their kids do not have to be back until 1/09. Therefore, you would have a little more crowds prior to that time than after. KWIM?? However, any time in Janurary, save for MLK weekend, should be low to moderate crowds. Have a great trip, and congrats :wizard:

aksunshine, we will be there Jan 4th to the 11th. There is talk of a Dis meet then Jan 6th ( I think it might be DVC, but not sure.)

We were there Jan 1st to 7th 2004, the crowds did get less everyday after the 1st, but still wasn't as great at before Christmas. However the weather was GREAT up until Jan 6th when a cold frount came through.

If you want to meet let me know, we have a 4 year old DD who loves to play with other kids at playgrounds and such.

Good luck! :goodvibes

I think you will like the cooler temps much more since you will be pregnant. I was in WDW pregnant in May of 2002 and I was so hot!

We were there this past February and we loved it. Not crowded and cooler temps.

Congratulations!!!

Hi,

DS was born on last May 12, and we went in the 3rd week of Jan and LOVED IT. We will flat out tell you this was the best trip we have ever taken. We also have DS who was 3 at the time. Weather was awesome. My wife shocked me ... no joke, we would wake up at 6 AM eat in the room ... go to a park before it opened ... and stay until it closed at night ... she wore me out in her pregnancy! :rotfl:

Now I feel the real test coming on .... we are going back next week and bringing DS which is now about 4 months. We are nervous about the flight.

I just want to add that Jan. is a wonderful time of the year to go.

Wow! Ihope your trip goes well. I'd be a bit nervous taking a 4 mo old too! It sounds like you were in about the same boat as we'll be in.

Thanks everyone for your help! :)

Sounds like a plan, Anna would love it too.

I actually am more nervous about taking a 17 month old. Right in the middle of terrible todlers. Oh well, she was lovely at WDW as a baby, loved everything about it when she was 7 months old and 9 months old. :cheer2:
