We are heading to DL next weekend. I will be 14 weeks pregnant at the time. I have found the list of the rides to avoid, but are there any other little tidbits someone can provide. My husband is thrilled about the double fasspasses - not so thrilled that I will get to shop while he is riding.

Also, does anyone know if there are exits (like chicken exits) at the ends of most of the thrill rides? I may wait in line with DH and then just not ride.

Thanks!

I am pretty sure all of the thrill rides have them. I have been to DL pregnant and I just had a wonderful time seeing the shows and doing the "approved rides". I did miss going on Space Mountain however! Have fun!

Okay, lets see from memory

Star tours does have a fairly convienent exit, or they will just let you go through the cabin and out to the other side. This one exits in the Star trader store, and there is a bench right by the exit.

Space mountian did have a convienent exit (I think it still does, I just haven't looked since they redid the ride). This one exits near the arcade behind Honey I shrunk the audience. There are benches here, and restrooms.

Autopia you could easily exit, but it would require going down to the bottom of the stairs and then back up again, they won't let you wait down where the cars load. This is next to innoventions so you can go in there and cool off or relax if you wish.

Matterhorn, fairly easy to exit, but line is nothing special. There are plenty of benchs outside the entrance to this.

Thunder mountain, this would require you to walk through the ride car to the other side. It could be done. The exit is located up the hill to the left of the entrance. There are benchs out by the entrance, and a few by the exit.

Indianna Jones, You can walk most of the way through the line. I would get out of line at where they take the wheelchairs out right before going up stairs. This line is a nice walk with things to look at so it might be nice. Exit is near the entrance, again there are benches plus the stores across the way.

Splash mountain, You would have to walk up a few stairs (4 maybe) over the boats, and back down stairs. Not a real pain, then you could wait in the room where the photos are shown. Or you can enter through the exit to see the photos. The exit is located all the way to the far end of critter country, and then to the far left (if you are facing the shop) There is a shop outside across from this exit, and some benches.

DCA
Tower of Terror, I don't remember where I went, but I have walked through the line and gotten out right before you enter the elevator. You exit to the area where the photos are, and then into the shop. Benches are outside the shop.

Soarin over California, While I'm sure it's do able, I wouldn't bother standing in line, espeically inside the building. The exit is near the entrance, there are benches, plus it's right next to taste pilots, and not too far from Burrbank Ice cream for a snack.

Grizzly river run, if you don't have fast pass it will be a long line, and nothing special. Getting out will be a pain, unless you leave at the point where the fast pass people enter. With fast pass the line is so short it's not worth waiting. There are benches in the area, plus a store right next to the ride. If he is standing in a long line (hour or more), and you want a break, I would walk through the GC entrance right near there, and either go get a snack at white water, or go sit in the lobby and relax. I love to sit in the fireplace, and we often choose to go sit and rest on hot days in here. My daughter while go back and forth between the TV set in the corner with cartoons and the fireplace. They also have storytellers come, though I think its usually more at night.

Mullhulland madness, I'm not sure about this one, you might have to go through the ride car to exit, it's been a long time since I've actually been on it. Line is no big deal and there are lots of tables and benches around.

Maliboomer, I think you could easily exit. There are a few benches but not many right there, there are more closer to the sun wheel near the stores.

California Screamin, I think there may be an exit right before going up the stairs, but I haven't really paid attention. Benches are closer to the water.

Did I miss anything you are thinking of not riding.

WOW! Thanks. You caught the important ones. Thanks for the great info.

I think I am going to ride Soarin. I see no reason why not to.

I'm another pregnant mommy who will be headed to DL. I'll be there in 4 weeks and will be 18 - 19 weeks along while there. When I called and talked to the customer service folks last week, they said that many of the rides are just fine (stressing that Fantasy Land is where I should stay  ). However, they said that an OB note taken to City Hall would be the best route to go - evidently there is a wrist band that can be given to pg. moms allowing them to go on Pirates (although I know that will be closed) and others without question from CMs. The cast member I spoke to said that depending on who is working a specific ride will depend on whether or not an expectant mother will be allowed to ride. (I can verify this b/c I was 15 weeks pg. with my 4th 2.5 years ago and was allowed on one day to ride Autopia and the following was told "no!" ).

GL and have fun!!!!

Wow! I've never heard of pregnant women being denied access to Pirates. I suppose it's because of the drops, eh? Luckily they've always let me on that one even when hugely pregnant.

I did Soarin' on our last trip (14 weeks noticably pregnant) and wasn't denied. Don't recall any relevant ride restrictions, except maybe "may cause motion sickness," but I knew I'd be fine having riden it before.

Something to consider: instead of Fast Passing it, some of the rides have single rider lines which could get your dh on faster if you're willing to shop while he rides. If you wait in line with him, he loses that double FP advantage.

I've never been questioned at any ride and I went while very visibly seven months pregnant last summer. They will not question you on a ride that has no height requirement, such as pirates. It is perfectly safe to ride any ride that doesn't have a height requirement while pregnant, that is what I have always been told! Have a great time and Congratulations!

I went at 13 weeks pregnant and rode everything including Indy, space, etc. but that was only because at the time I didn't realize I was pregnant. The pregnancy tests kept coming out negative, and I did not show one bit.

I did list soarin, cause i wasn't sure if they had something that said you couldn't, but I don't see anything wrong with it. Very smooth ride, I wouldn't think there would be any problems.

As for ride operators, they do have the last say over who can and can't ride a ride. However, they all go on break sometime.

We had a problem at WDW trying to get my daughter on Splash moutain. She was at least 1 inch over the height and had been riding all the rides of the same height at DL for months, and all the rides at WDW that trip. However the CM insisted on measuring her in a ditch, where she was standing lower than where he placed the bottom of the stick. I argued with him, and he insisted she wasn't tall enough, we walked away rode Thunder mountain (same height limit no problems there) and walked back and got in line for Splash. This guy happened to see us in line, and ran all the way to the front and told them she wasn't tall enough. He stood there while the other CM measured her and she was taller than the top of the stick. Boy did we get dirty looks as we got on.

I, too, went on al of the rides at DL 5 months pregnant with no problems, although I have to say that overalls were in style then, so it may not have been that visible to the CMs. I didn't have problems getting on any ride, and the only one I wouldn't do pregnant again is Indy, just because it made me sick. Oh, and I never go on Star Tours for the same reason. Anyway, for my two cents, I woud go on what you want to/feel comfortable about and not worry too much about the CMs. I don't know, though, maybe it is a good reason to get more shopping in!

I've been to Disneyland quite a few times while pregnant. Just got back yesterday actually and I'm pregnant now (just 6.5 weeks though).

I went about a year and a half ago and was almost 8 months pregnant. They never once questioned me on any ride. I rode Pirate's mulitiple times.

IMO Soarin would be fine while pregnant. There really isn't anything that is dangerous about that ride. I'd avoid the obvious ones like Indiana Jones, TMRR, Matterhorn, Star Tours, Mullholland Madess, etc. But stuff like Pirates and Soarin should be fine.

I was just relaying what the customer service CM told me pertaining to Pirates (as well as other rides) and giving personal experience where Autopia and CM's are concerned. Not trying to worry anyone here ;)

I went at several stages of this last pregnancy, and here is my .02 that hasn't already been mentioned:

Teacups and DCA's Golden Zepher: I'm not usually a queasy person, but this I about hurled! (only tried it pregnant once.)

Also, make sure to consume large quanties of water and rest often. I made my DH wear a camelback to keep me hydrated!
Have fun, and go at your own pace!

We were just there today, and went on Mullhuland madness. So I wanted to correct what I put about the exit. right when you get off the ride, there is a place to exit without having to go through the ride cars, which is good, because to go through the cars would be a pain since they are sometimes moving slowly and other times they stop for a bit but start up unexpectedly.
