When I go on my cruise, I will be 23 weeks pregnant. I was wondering what I will be able to do at the spa besides going in the rainforest room. I would really love a massage, but I don't think the beds are made for that....since I don't think I will want to lay on my belly. Thank you in advance for your responses. :cool1:

Why not call them? I know massage can be done while you're pregnant, and I ebt they see enough pregnant women to offer it. If you don't feel comfortable with that(I'm sure it is not on your belly) there are always leg wraps, facials and pedicures to go for.

You're cutting it quite close. DCL documents state: Women who have entered their 24th week of pregnancy as of their embarkation date... ...will be refused passage on Disney Cruise Line ships due to safety concerns.

You might want to bring a note from your doctor with you. You don't want to be denied boarding.

Ask the spa people when you go to make reservations. I know that there are certain essential oils that should not be used while pregnant. They can let you know if there is some sort of massage you can do. You should definitely be able to do reflexology (feet only, so you can stay on your back) or a head and neck massage.

I always treat myself to a pedicure on board ship. Very relaxing and pampered feeling.

There are special massages for pregnant people. I know some things they do for a regular massage can bring on labor in some cases. A place by me does the pregnancy massages as does my ob/gyn's office.

Actually, there is a medical form from DCL that your DR. needs to fill out. You can then fax it to DCL and take the original along with you just in case. This is what I had to do in January.

I am hoping to be pregnant for our Jan 2006 cruise. I know the 24 week rule and will plan accordingly. Are there any special concerns for pregnant women on-board (other than gaining too much weight!!)? Are there usually a lot of expectant moms on board?

When I was pregnant on the last cruise, I was able to get a facial but they had to omit one step. (I think it was something with electrodes or something LOL) I was also able to get a pedicure with no problem, but it was too expensive and not as good as what I get at home.

There were ALOT of pregnant women on that cruise. I was only about 2 months and wasn't showing yet. I noticed one woman who was thin with a huge pregnancy belly in a bikini. I thought that was so great! She looked amazing. I wish I had that much confidence. I guess when you are pregnant you notice other pregnant women more. I was pretty lucky that I didn't have much morning sickness, but I think that would be a concern.

I had the "Sole Delight" - kind of a glorified pedicure, took almost an hour. By that time, you won't be able to reach your feet as well by yourself...

I was definitely sporting my bikini with the pregnant belly on our last cruise! I didn't care at all...it felt great!

The cruise was great while pregnant because not only did I have a great appetite (to which there is so much to eat onboard), but I was also so tired and it was the best sleep ever. The gentle rocking motion was wonderful. The cruise was exactly what I needed! :)

This thread made me think back, and surprisingly, I haven't seen that many pregnant women on board. But I think a cruise while pregnant is a great idea. What better time to pamper yourself? :teeth:

Very interested in this topic as well. DH and I are trying for our 2nd soon and I will be heading out Sept 24th for a 7 night western. Hope to be early along then - it will keep our bar tab down, that is for sure :teeth:

I think the main reason that it is 24 wks along is the fact that a baby can be born viable at that time so time is of the essence if someone goes into labor.

You can get facials, manicures/pedicures, and probably do some of the baths... I don't think they offer pregnancy massages on DCL (I know lots of spas do but I don't think DCL has is on the list) but some of the other things you can take advantage of. But yes, obviously tell them that you're pregnant (if it's not clearly apparent) so they can avoid any oils, etc. that might not be good for preggies.

I am 24 weeks along now and am going for my traditional (well, if it being my second time can count as "tradition") pregnancy massage, facial, bath and pedicure in a couple weeks :hyper:

Enjoy!!

I have had 2 spa treatments while pregnant. The one on the wonder, was so early in pregnancy that I wasn't even sure I was pregnant yet. I had a massage and I think that they just avoided using some oils or lotions that had certain ingredients in them. I also had a massage (not on DCL) at 25 weeks when DH and I took a trip to Big Cedar Lodge in Branson, MO. They had a special pillow with a hole for your belly and all kinds of pillows around you. I think it was the only time that I got to lay on my belly while pregnant! :) It was a wonderful feeling since I like to sleep on my belly, and boy had I missed it! :teeth: I think I slept through over half the massage. Just call and ask and see what they can do for you.

Even if you don't see a pregnancy massage offered, be sure to ask. They may have a therapist trained in it so they may be able to do it even if it's not an "official" treatment.

I had a massage on board at 14 weeks - as others have said, they avoided certain oils, used lots of pillows, and I didn't lay down flat on my stomach. It was great!
