I know this has probably been brought up before but i couldnt find it.

Does anyone know of a list of rides that are bad for pregnant women?
Or how about a list of ones that are ok?

thanks.

I think it all depends how far along you are. I went when I was 2 months. I had an ok to do everything within reason. Nothing to extreme. I wouldn't attempt a big roller coaster or the Mummy. I did Jaws, ET, Twister, along with other non coaster type rides. I felt sick on Back to the future and since then I will not ride that ride. So I think it depends on how far along you are. If you are, 4 months+ stick to mellow rides without restraints on your belly. When I was pregnant, I really got to enjoy all the wonderful food. I also loved the onsite hotel pools. I think Universal can be fun without the rides too.

We'll be almost 4 months and wondering about rides like Popeye, MIB, or Spiderman.

I went to Universal when I was preggers...wow...11 years ago!!! I was told that the baby is very well protected in there (in fact, I proved it once by falling ON it with child #1 and that explains alot about him!) but that rides that spin and/or drop and therefore pull the fluid and blood flow away from the baby are bad...bouncing around, while they will say that pregnant guests shouldn't ride to cover their butts, really shouldn't hurt the baby at all...but tight and/ or prolonged spinning is bad...I'd say no to MIB, Spiderman, probably popeye although that spin is really a broad spin...the coasters, of course...Storm Force, Cat in the Hat (do they still have a non spinning car? :confused3 ), Jurassic park and Dudley Do Right are probably best to stay away from too. Others are a matter of comfort and preference, I'd say...Back to the Future is very bouncy and honestly, I did it when I was preggers but I don't like that one, in general as I usually feel like I've been abused after I ride!

Probably should avoid happy hour too... :rolleyes1

Just drink PLENTY of water...and take frequent rests...it's easy to get dehydrated anyway, but in that state, it's even more important to keep hydrated! Some of the attractions that are in a theater and the seats move have non-motion seats, if it were me, I wouldn't bother with the non-motion ones, because bouncing is just not a crisis I don't think! Heck, I bounced plenty just walking!!! :teeth:

Take it slow and enjoy...and yeah, relax by the pool...if this is your first, it ma y be awhile before you can do THAT!!! :teeth:

I went when I was about 5 months pregnant with my last baby (baby is now 13 & a half). I rode ET (but then the ride seating was different), I went on Jaws, did the walk thru on Nickelodeon (no longer there) I watched some shows (can't remember which) and that was about it. I do remember going to the HR Cafe to eat when the entrance was still in the park over by the Bates Motel...anyone remember that :hippie:

There are lots of threads on this board that should interest you. This is just one that might not.

As far as being pregnant, if you can fit in the restraints you will not be forbidden from riding anything. It is up to you and your doctor to decide what is safe. I am the mother of 5 children. I went to Knotts Berry Farm, Disneyland, and Universal Hollywood when I was 3 months pregnant with twins and rode absolutely everything. I even rode my horses up until the day of delivery of each of my 7 pound twins. My doctor was of the opinion that if rollercoasters caused miscarriages that women would just go to amusement parks rather than pay for abortions.

That said I also have numerous miscarriages and all of those happened when I was on complete bedrest. Those pregnancy were highrisk and I did nothing at all strenuous but still miscarried. Once I found out what was causing my miscarriages and was treated then all my other pregnancies were normal and I did everything during pregnancy that I did when I wasn't with no problems. Talk to your OB doctor and decide from there.

Congratulations!!! Nothing to add, but I'd probably avoid the rides and kick back in Finnegan's with a big Sprite and watch the Mummy guys on stilts, pick up some books in the Dr. Seuss book store and dream about reading to your little one and being able to bring them there one day to ride the caroSuessel, Cat and Spiderman! See the Sinbad show so you can retell it complete with the sword fight and explosions. Pick up one of those little super soft Patrick's and a Spongebob sippy cup, and a Barney video and a Christmas ornament and a little t-shirt....I could easily have a fantastic time watching the shows, eating, shopping, dreaming, and enjoying the time alone with my dh, LOL. Have fun!
