My daughter has just found out she is pregnant and we were wondering if anyone has any advice how we should tackle the parks and if any of the rides will be safe for her to go on, she will be about 14 weeks then

Congratulations to your DD!

I went to Disneyland Paris whilst expecting (4th month) and I did avoid the big rides which, to be fair I am not a big fan of anyway ;) My sister-in-law was unaware she was expecting and went on everything!

There is a red triangle rating on the park maps which suggests that expectant mothers don't ride. For Example at MGM this sign is against Rock 'N' Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror and Star Tours - sorry don't have a full set of maps at the moment.

I would advise taking it easy, lots of fluids and resting when needed. Also for her to carry a snack with her in case she needs it urgently (I hope she isn't suffering with the 'All day sickness!) Oh and make a note of where the toilet facilites are

Here is a thread on the same topic from the family board

and another

in fact if you search for 'pregnant' there are loads!

Hope you trip goes well

Congratulations!!

There is still loads of stuff your daughter can do, Disney is not really about thrill rides, it caters for everyone. The best thing to do is buy a planning book which will have loads of info on which rides will be ok. Some examples of one that I think would be fine are Its a small world, Jungle cruise, Tiki birds, Buzz Lightyear, Soarin, the boat ride in the land, the great movie ride. Those are just a few examples, there is LOTS more she will be able to go on, all the parks also do shows such as Beauty and the Beast and 3D shows so don't worry that she will not be able to participate! Hope this helps. :)

At that stage she might still be very tired so stopping for lots of rest in the a/c inside is very important. She will need to be very careful on the flight as well - walking around and drinking water a LOT to avoid DVT.

Congratulations to her!

I went last year when I was 9 weeks pregnant. I avoided the obvious big rides and any spinny rides too but still had a fab time. I rested when I needed to and drank lots of water too.
