Hi all :wave2:

I have a few questions....we're planning a trip to Disney this upcoming Thanksgiving week and I will be in my second trimester of pregnancy. Can anyone tell me:

1. Do they give special prices for pregnant visitors? Since I can't ride all of the rides, it'd make sense!

2. Are there many rides that I CAN ride? I've read lists on the internet, but I'm looking for personal experiences.

3. Any suggestions that would be helpful for this trip?

4. Thanksgiving week....I'm guessing that it won't be as crowded as the summer months? Or am I wrong?

We'll be traveling with a total of 4 adults, my sister's two kids (ages 13 and 11), and my son who will be 10 months.

Thanks for any insight you can give us!

No discounts for pregnant persons (maybe disney will charge you extra for the kid j/k)

There are plenty of rides you will be able to ride, but none of the fast ones, but no personal experience here.

I would suggest taking it slow and just enjoying yourself, take a rest in the afternoon, enjoy the resort and pool. It would also help out with the kids, won't tucker them out as much, nor will it tucker you out :)

Thanksgiving week will get busy, any vacation time frame it is busy, especially the closer you get to thanksgiving. I would suggest going the following week or 2 weeks since that is one of the least crowded times, but the weather should be good. We have gone the week after thanksgiving many times and really enjoy this time.

Good luck, hope this helps.

I think you will be surprised at how much energy you have in your 2nd trimester at Disney. I was 5 months pregnant when we went. I had more energy than my DH and my DS! There really aren't that many rides that you can't ride. Just take it easy and stop frequently and you should be fine. Have fun!

Nope.

2. Are there many rides that I CAN ride? I've read lists on the internet, but I'm looking for personal experiences.

The following rides are prohibited if you are pregnant;
In the Magic Kingdom - Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, Mad Tea Party, Space Mountain, Tomorrowland Speedway
Epcot - Body Wars, Test Track, Mission Space
MGM - Tower of Terror, Rock n Roller Coaster, Star Tours
Animal Kingdom - Dinosaur, Kali River, Primeval Whirl (note the Safari is restricted but I did it in my second trimester and found it was fine)

3. Any suggestions that would be helpful for this trip?
Use common sense and rest, drink your water. You're pregnant not ill so relax and have fun. I'm always amazed by how much women worry about what they CAN'T do when you can still do alot even when pregnant.

4. Thanksgiving week....I'm guessing that it won't be as crowded as the summer months? Or am I wrong? You're wrong - from what I've read Thanksgiving week is busy and you might want to change your trip dates a bit.

Go and have fun! I did Disney at eighteen weeks and had no problems and wouldn't hesitate to go when pregnant again.

Welcome Pumkinpatch73,

The only one I might can help you with is how crowded for Thanksgiving Week.

The last time we went during Thanksgiving was in 2001. It was really not crowded until Thanksgiving Day and after. That's when we experienced the worst crowds, especially at Magic Kingdom. This year we will be at Universal Studios for Thanksgiving Day. But I'm planning on going to Magic Kingdom earlier in the week to avoid the crowds that will be there later that week. If you have park hopper tickets, then just go to a different park if you find that one is more crowded than what you'd like. Have a good time. We'll be there that week too. The weather is usually wonderful at that time, not too hot, not too cold.

I went to Disney in 1999 when I was 6 months pregnant. My best advice is drink lots of water (even if you have to take lots of potty breaks) and don't push yourself- rest when you need to! Don't feel like you have to keep up with the rest of the people in your party. Take your son back to the hotel for a nap, or a nice swim in the pool. It takes all the weight off your poor tired pregnant feet! ;)

No, sorry

2. Are there many rides that I CAN ride? I've read lists on the internet, but I'm looking for personal experiences.

You can ride all of the rides that your 10 month old can! :teeth:

3. Any suggestions that would be helpful for this trip?

If the walking gets to be too much get a wheelchair. You will have plenty of adults with you to push you around. I was dead set against this when my OB recommended it, but one day when I was'nt feeling so great I had to break down and do it. It was better than missing out on a day at Disney!!

4. Thanksgiving week....I'm guessing that it won't be as crowded as the summer months? Or am I wrong?

Thanksgiving week can get pretty busy, just pace yourself and rest when you need to!

Have fun and enjoy Disney with your son!
