Has anyone been to Walt Disney World pregnant? Any tips or ideas.
I will be 4 months pregnant. As of lately, I have been dealing with high blood pressure. The doctor wants to see me every two weeks now. We will be flying from Upper Michigan to Orlando. We are spending 7 nights at the ASM. Hoping to have a great time.

Many trips to Walt Disney World.

I hope you have a great pregnancy! I went twice... once at 2 mos with TERRIBLE morning sickness and once at 7 1/2 mos (same pregnancy). I didn't do anything different than I normally do, other than avoiding the more intense rides. I had a mother-to-be massage at the GF Spa and that was pretty special. I got some extra attention from CMs in the parks and while dining due to my belly ;) The worst part was not being able to eat as much as I usually do when we go. I'd get through the appetizer and that's about it. Of course, I was much further along when that happened. Are you going when it's warm? It was FREEZING when we went (really... like high 20s low 30s at night) and (sorry to get personal here) my nipples were KILLING ME!!! You'll have a blast. Best wishes to you!

Not WDW, but I did do vacation while 3 months preg. The car ride was a killer. 28 hours round trip. That's great that you are flying. Did you get your doc's okay?

The only trouble I had was one hot day we were walking around Monticello and I started bleeding and just about passed out. Shook me up a bit. I got back in the car, cranked the air, and put my feet up. The rest of the trip I just took it real easy. Had a healthy baby boy!

Best of luck to you and have a great time!

I went to Disney World a long time ago when I was almost five months pregnant. Had a wonderful time. There's so much to do without going on the thrill rides. Break in your walking shoes, take it easy, and take breaks. Also, get to know where the bathrooms are! Seriously, my husband calls that trip The One With the Bathrooms. I think I hit every single one of them. You will have a great time.

I went @ 6 months, it was May and we had a four year old. We had a blast! I didn't have any problems, but your blood pressure is of concern. That is something you should take seriously(not trying to scare you) I think you should inform your doctor and ask if there is anything special you could do. One good thing is we got all the autographs we wanted. I think the characters felt sorry for me and more than once DD was the last autograph they gave. We did ask before we got on a couple of rides if it was ok and they said yes. Wouldn't try Tower of Terror though!! :wave2:

I was almost 3 months pregnant when we took our DS (who was 3 at the time) for his first trip. It was January, 2004. I told my doctor my plans and, after telling me I was insane to drive for 9 hours with a 3 year old, he gave me the green light and the usual warnings. Move your legs and feet as much as possible while sitting still for the trip (his advice included curling and uncurling my toes, rotating my feet, tensing and relaxing my calf muscles, and even doing a mini bicycling motion with my legs). Keep yourself hydrated. (Water that goes in has to come out, so keep a map handy to locate the closest restroom.) Keep a small emergency snack handy, something easily stored in a pocket like cheese crackers or a box of raisins or whatever works for you. (That came in handy both when the "morning sickness" hit or when I'd get the spins from a sudden drop in blood sugar.) Listen to your body. If you need to stop and sit... stop and sit. If you need to take a big break... take one. If you feel fine... great!

Check with your doctor and then have a fabulous time. :goodvibes

I went when I was 4 1/5 months pregnant. It was fun. You can't really commando tour and try to get everything in, but from your signature, it looks like you've been many times, so you won't feel pressured to do it all. When I went, I took an plastic seat cushion with me (like you would use at a stadium), that was a lifesaver. I did more sitting than normal, especially since I did all the seat saving for parades while Dh took our daughter on rides I coudn't go on. My backside would get sore sitting on the sidewalk for an hour, if I didn't have that cushion. I think pregnancy made my hip joints worse or something, because it doesn't bother me anymore. Anyway, it was $5 at a sporting goods store, and would roll up pretty small. Then, when I was ready to use it, it self-inflated (it had springy foam in it.)
Also, if you ride busses, do not be shy about letting people know you are pregnant, since you will probably not be showing too much yet. I refused to stand on a bus while pregnant, as it didn't seem safe. If it looked like I would need to stand, I would let that bus go and wait for the next. But, it turned out I never had to stand-crowds were never that bad. Now that I'm not pregnant, I would not hesitate to give my seat up for a pregnant woman.
Have a great time!

I personally don't have any experience with this, but we just got back, and I've never seen so many pregnant women there. It better not be in the water :scared1:

We just went this past Oct when i was 2 1/2 months pregnant. I agree that I definatly could not eat as much as I normally do and we moved way slower but the magic was still there. I have clotting problems with this pregnancy and I was terrified of everything I did because I didn't want to upset my system and cause a stroke. This was my only regret. I was so nervous, unecessarily that it did take a little away from the trip. I would tell you to talk in detail with your OB and if you are seeing a perinatologist then talk with them as well in detail about what rides you should try, what you can and cannot do and so on. My best advice however is use common sense. I really wanted to go on Splash Mountain when we were there but something told me no so I didn't ride it. Lucky for me because the rest of my family sat at the top of the drop for 1+hrs when it broke down. :rotfl2: Sorry to laugh but I told them that's what they got for riding without me.

I would also tell you to get the maps to the parks early if you can an scope out the best sitting places. My DH and I spent one day at AK just sitting there watching the world go by and looking at the Tree of Life. It turned out to be very magical and romantic. Above all trust yourself and stop when you need to. It will all be a magical memorable moment.

We also started our daughter's first autograph book while we were there and got some great pics of characters pointing to and touching my stomach. :tink:

Congrats on your pregnancy!

We went to WDW many times during my last pregnancy (and she was a WDW souvenier!) the main thing I learned was take everything at your pace. We have the luxury of living close and going often so none of us ever feel the need to "do, do, do" as if we were never getting back. Drink and take lots of water, visit the baby care centers....I found them usually to be empty, very cool a/c and nice rockers to just relax in.

Have a great time!

I am 17 weeks pregnant and we just got back last Monday. Everything was great and I just didn't ride any of the mountains or any other ride that had the pregnancy warning. I have had a healthy pregnancy so far though. Are you sure you're allowed to travel with the high blood pressure? I had pre-eclampsia with DS and that happened at 34 weeks -- I was on complete bedrest and would not have been allowed to travel at the time.

Good luck!

Check with your doctor and get his/her okay first. I went and had a miscarriage upon our arrival and will always feel so sad about it. We had a big family trip booked for this past December and we rescheduled when I found out I was pregnant and now we are going to be taking my beautiful baby boy (one week old) in 25 days - he will be one month
No matter when you decide to go, take care of yourself and drink lots of water! Congratulations!

I have talked to 2 of my 5 doctors about this. They are all ok with me going to Disney. I am 19 weeks and we are leaving in a week and a half. I plan on taking it easy. We have been there so much that we do not need to rush around. Thanks for all the concern and tips.

Congratulations and have a great trip!

I went when I was 7 weeks, 5 1/2 months and 8 months pregnant. I had fun on each trip and just took it slow and avoided the fast rides.

Have a wonderful time!

I went when I was four and 1/2 months preggers with my twins, and it was fine. I had god-awful-never-wish-on-anyone-all-day-morning-sickness, and most of the CM's were just so stinkin' nice! At the 50's Prime Time Cafe, I ordered a salad that I just couldn't eat, it just didn't smell nice! Well, "Mom" took me back to the chef and they made me something that I could actually eat that wasn't on the menu! So, SO nice. They were also quick to point out where the nearest water fountains and bathrooms were. :)

If you've gotten your doctors okay, go, have a great time, stay hydrated and rest when you need to! This doesn't have to be your "Disney or Die" trip! Have fun!

I went at 5 months, having read that the second trimester was the safest time to travel.

There's plenty for you to do. (I, too, hemmed, hawed and decided to skip Splash Mtn.) I also skipped the fireworks even though my doc said the noise probably wouldn't be a problem.

I had no trouble eating. (I think I ate more than usual.) But I was TIRED. Early nights, straight to bed.

Don't push yourself. And don't let the rest of your group push you.

I did have one scare -- some spotting on the first day of walking around. My doctor didn't think it was anything to worry about, but it was a good reminder to me that I needed to take it easy.

I am six weeks (almost 7) and thinking about going for a weekend next week. I'd be going solo for the first time, which is one concern, and pregnant for the first time, another concern. I'm dying for a Disney Fix, but what will I be able to ride/do by myself?

Thanks for thoughts and suggestions!
