Please if anyone can help, even pm me too, my sister just said she is expecting and I am so excited. It will be the first in the family. Anyhow does anyone have any ideas little extras, gifts so forth I might get her, that will help keep the pregnancy smooth? Anything comfort wise you can think of that made the rough times a little easier or just something special to have?

The book "What to Expect When You Are Expecting" is a great one, and IMO would make a great gift.

BTW - congrats to your sister!

Congrats! How exciting, a new baby!!! I would say what I loved most when I was pregnant was my body pillow!! Also how about a pair of Beach Crocs? They run alittle wide(great for swelling feet)and are really comfy. You can also pass along this tip if she has morning sickness(or all day sickness like I had! LOL)carry around a lemon. I know it sounds crazy but when she feels the nausea coming on, take a sniff of a cut open lemon and it helps. If the nausea is really bad then sucking on the lemon helps get rid of it! It has something to do with the acid in that fruit.
I remember when I was pregnant with my first. My Dr. told me to go buy a new purse! He said mine was too small because he wanted me not to leave the house without a bottle of water and snacks, like crackers or breadsticks!! He was so right and snacking often and drinking alot of water is really important. So, maybe buy her a new purse with lots of compartments to keep snacks, etc...

Body butter for stretch mark prevention.

How sweet of you!

For the morning sickness, get her some peppermints, lemon drops, butterscotch etc (any hard candy to suck on). You don't really know what kind will hit the spot, and it usually changes w/each pregnancy but once you know you have to buy tons of them!

Later on when she starts getting bigger, one of those HUGE body pillows. They are a must have!

If she has long hair a pretty clip or rubber band to keep her hair up (easier than trying to hold it out of the way). Bottled water to keep hydrated and be sure to keep one in the bathroom for after said hair holding. (Can you tell I spent a lot of time puking  )

i am a Preggie Pop Princess!! i lived on preggie pops..they are little loli pops sold at MOTHERHOOD MATERNITY and they help with the morning sickness, they even make them in hard candy form! i loved these things!! yummy too!

Eating Expectantly is also a good book to help with diet during a pregnancy!

congrats to her and to you too!! what fun!!

Seriously, a pedicure gift certificate would also be awesome!!! i lived on these, since my feet were always swollen! and i had a fabulous pregnancy massage too!!

I'm subscribing to hear everyone's ideas! i plan on getting pregnant soon, and could use the insider info!! :rotfl:

$1,000,000 to raise the little darlin

A body pillow for sleeping on her side at night (and naps, of course).

Gift certificates for pedicures in those huge belly days would be appreciated.

Belly Balm from Motherhood was great for alieviating stretch marks. Best stuff I tried out of three pregnancies. Good for rest of skin too..made my legs smooth and shiny!

ITA with everyones comment about a body pillow. I am currently 7 months pregnant, and don't know what I did in my first pregnancy w/o one. (Actually, I do know - I had a lot of sleepless nights and saw a chiropractor!!)

Dh got me the Snoogle Pillow for Christmas. It's amazing, and I'll be really sad to part with it once the baby comes. Dh feels like he's sleeping with 2 people instead of one, but it's comfortable, so it doesn't matter...to him or me!!! I can't say enough about this pillow, it's great. How sad is it that we even gave it a name?!?! :rolleyes1  :teeth:

As far as the morning sickness goes, I found it helped me when my mouth felt minty fresh and clean. So I was always sticking Listerine breath strips in my mouth.

As far as flavors of candies and pops, don't stock up too much on any one particular thing, until your sister has tried it and you know for sure that it works for her. What works great for one person may make the next pregnant lady sick as a dog.

I snacked on Tums too.

Water was too heavy on my stomach. When I squeezed lemon in it, I could drink it fine. My Chemist brother explained that the lemon juice broke down the composition of the water. Whatever, all I cared is that I found a way to drink water!!!

It also helps to have bubbly water, or sprite, or ginger ale (Ginger is supposed to help morning sickness)
