Im starting to plan each day our May 2011 trip - we will probably end up going to both waterparks but Im scheduling one in early on in the piece and just wanted to know which of the 2 waterparks you like the best (blizzard or typhoon)?? I have 3 kids who will be 8,6 and almost 3 at time of travel... the 2 older boys are pretty good when it comes to rides - they arent scaredys... obviously the little one will be limited but Im sure there will be something for her to do :) I will also have mum with me on that day so she will more than likely stay with the little one whilst I venture on the slides with the boys.... yep really cant see mum hurtling down some of those :rotfl2:

Also - Ive heard the transport isnt really great for waterparks - we will be staying at AKV - is there a better way for us to get there? We dont mind heading somewhere else for breakfast then heading to the chosen waterpark from there....

TIA!

My kids prefer Blizzard Beach. the wave pool is calmer(TL Wave pool knocks me down & I am a big girl.), the kids area way better & the famiy raft ride is the best.

We just got back and visited both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. All of us preferred Blizzard Beach by far.

Most rides have the tubes on conveyor belts so you don't have to carry them up the stairs.

Great area for younger kids.

Wave pool is much calmer. Didn't think much of the wave pool at TL, spent 30 mintues treading water waiting for a wave, gave up and sure enough the it came.

We had no problems with the transport to either water park. We stayed at WL and worse case was 10-20 minute wait.

We also have done both waterparks and agree with the others, Blizzard Beach has a great area for younger children and the wave pool is better too. The wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon is awesome, but the waves are really really strong! I had trouble standing up with the waves. So go for Blizzard Beach it was our favourite but would suit younger children more I think.

thanks guys... I remember reading someone's TR who had an awful time with buses to one of the waterparks - maybe it was Miss Shuttergirl ???

Will def schedule in Blizzard Beach and if time permits later on in the stay DH can take the boys to Typhoon Lagoon....

What did you guys do for food whilst at the waterparks? Is the DP accepted there ??? I dont think my kids would last an entire day there so maybe we should go for a good buffet breaky then a late lunch when we have had enough?? And then they can just grab a snack or two - my guess is they wont be interested in food - its only going to be their second day in WDW!

There are a few CS places at the waterparks (which all have the same food as each other) The food isn't bad. There are also places to use you snack credits too.

The buses aren't a problem unless you want to leave and get back to your resort before the buses start running back to the resorts. We had a problem there but we caught a bus there in the morning to transfer to another resort bus. We found out that the buses start running to the water parks earlier but they do not start running from there back to the resorts until about 11 or 11.30am, so if you want to leave before then, hop on a bus to hollywood studios or AK (as they run to those parks earlier, just not the resorts), then transfer to the bus to your resort from DHS or AK. If you are wanting a resort bus after 11 or 11.30 you won't have a problem with the buses, they run as normal.

Blizzard Beach is quite close to AKV so it is easier to get to from there, from memory BB actually had some joint buses with AK so it is like having bonus services compared to other resorts. Having waited at the BB bus stop twice, once for a car pick-up and once to actually get a bus to BWV the service seemed reasonable. All of this was December, severe off-season for the water parks, so May could be quite different.
As for which park we have only ever been able to do Typhoon Lagoon once when the closure changeover was 14/15 December, not early January as it has been for nearly 10 years. However I would do BB first but try to at least spend one morning at TL before DisneyQuest, shopping etc.
