Hi All,

Could someone tell me the diffrence of the Preferred VS. Standard View and if it is worth it to pay the Xtra for the Preferred? I am planning on staying at the BWV. Thanks for any help!!

Preferred is either on the Boardwalk or a pool. Most are on a pool.

Standard usually has a view of the front entrance and parking lot.

I has stayed with a Boardwalk view which was nice, but would never use the extra points, or money, to look at a pool.

Standard rooms have always been just fine for us.

Lots of members who are owners use their points on the standard views to save points. So non-BWV members don't usually have the option of standard views. Someone renting a reservation should get a BWV member to make the reservation for them as close to the 11 month mark as possible.

You see lots of people basing the number of points they want to rent on a standard view and don't realize the standard view is only about 20% of the entire resort. Plus they are usually well within the 7 month period.

Are you a DVC member or are you renting points from a DVC member? If not, no need to be concerned about Preferred or Standard. Guests who book the BWV via CRO/WDWTC are assigned ROH - Run of the House. There is only one category for CRO cash reservationa for the BWV. Your room could end up anywhere.

FWIW, the rooms overlooking the Boardwalk are reserved for DVC members (or their guests/renters) who are paying for their stay with points. It is a specific room category and must be booked when the reservation is made. Boardwalk view rooms are no longer available by request.

If you are staying on points:

Preferred view - Pool/Garden rooms overlook one of the pools or the canal. Most also have a view of the Swan/Dolphin resorts (across the canal). This category makes up about 60% of the available rooms.

Preferred view - Boardwalk view rooms overlook the Boardwalk and Crescent Lake. As already mentioned, this is a separate booking category. It is very popular and often only available to those DVC members who reserve 11 months prior to check out. All of the rooms in this category have a view of the higher level fireworks from IllumiNations from the balcony. This category makes up about 20% of the rooms.

Standard view room overlook the front entrance and the driveway leading up to it. There is quite a bit of landscaping/flowers between the BWVs and the black topped areas. Some of these rooms have a view of the higher level fireworks from IllumiNations from the balcony. As already mentioned, these rooms are very popular with DVC members and tend to book up very quickly after the 11 month reservation window opens. This category also makes up about 20% of the available rooms.

FWIW, virtually all of the guests who book via CRO/WDWTC for cash end up assigned to a room in the PV - Pool/Garden category.

Best wishes -

Thanks for your response. We are going to be renting points from someone so we need to deside which way to go. Would you say it is worth the extra $$ to pay for the preferred rooms? I would love to be able to see the fire works at epcot from the room and I have seen that you can from some of the room.
So may choices!!

Thanks,

Kim

You can see some of the fireworks from most of the preferred boardwalk view and some of the standard views. You cannot see them from the preferred pool/garden. The only way I would pay for preferred views points is if you can reserve preferred boardwalk view, otherwise I'd try for standard.
