Is it worth the price difference?

How bad are the standard views/ locations?

Any descriptions of the preferred views/ locations?

Thanks for info :flower: :sunny: :goodvibes

We have had the preferred view three times.
Views: (1) of the canal by the Swan/Dolphin (could see ToT at MGM)
(2) & (3) different views of the main pool.
We are doing our first standard view next trip (in 5 days!).

you say BWI - you mean BWV - right?

I like standard views. correction I LOVE standard views.

the views include the drive way, entrance and parking lot views - they also include some lovely gardens between you and the cars.

when BWV was new members complainted about the parking lot view - OKW doesn't have any parking lot views - so they changed the points.

don't ever except this to happen again.

The preferred view is actually broken down into 2 subgroups - Preferred boardwalk view and Preferred pool/garden view. The Preferred boardwalk view rooms are over the boardwalk. The Preferred pool/garden views are over the 2 pools and garden areas (facing the Swan/Dolphin and area between BWV and BWI). You actually reserve one or the other with preferred points.

The one standard view I had was of the back of leaping horse libations by the pool. It wasn't a great view, but it was a good spot to people watch, so I liked it. Personally, if it was just my family, I'd book the standard to save points. If I were hosting a guest, I'd probably spring for the extra points to impress them.

The one thing its worth knowing early on. There are few standard view rooms and they are very popular. I think there are slightly more BW View rooms, also very popular. The majority of rooms at the BW are ordinary preferred view rooms. So you will want to book early if you want to be assured of standard view.

At BWV we usually have gotten standard views, we own and usually book before 8 months out. In August, this was a 2 bedroom all the way down the hallway, so we were at the corner of the building and from the side of our balcony, we saw ToT and the canal that the friendship boats go on. It was a lovely room, and we have been happy with SV, which is basically the entrance to the BWI & BWV.

We had a preferred view which was of the quiet pool. Then we booked early to get a standard view, and it was at the end near the walkway to MGM. Personally, I would rather save points and book the standard. We can stay longer for less points. When we travel, it is usually too cold to sit out on the balcony much, anyway.

I would always rather have the standard view! You have to book 11 months out for it though! I really don't spend much time on the balcony anyway and watching the buses and people come and go can be interesting. It really helps stretch the points. I once had a preferred pool view and a big tree blocked the view anyway! :goodvibes

I always book BW view rooms for a view of the lagoon. For me, it's worth every point, and more. I have had standard view rooms three times--at the back of Leaping Libations, overlooking the dumpster (now gone), and right above all the air conditioners for the resort(extremely noisy). I was unhappy with all three "views"--or lack of them--so now I guarantee my view will always be lovely with a couple of extra points. After my experiences with standard view, I decided that I either had to sell my points, or buy more...so I bought more, and I am happy with my decision. :cheer2:

Thanks for the replies! :flower:

I doubt I will be able to get a standard view since I'm not planning on making my reservation that far in advance. I think the Boardwalk View sounds great, as does the pool views. But I'd LOVE to look at the lagoon, however. I'm assuming it's much higher to book the Boardwalk view over the pool view, and hard to get....

Any request I should make for a regular preferred view, if the BV is gone? :wizard:

Not higher points for Boardwalk view over regular preferred view, but they do usually have to be reserved early and not last minute, just as standard view.,

I just got back from a great stay at BWV preferred Boardwalk view. The villa had an awesome :cloud9: view and was very convenient - close to the pool, the boardwalk, lobby - everything. IMO, yes, I would pay extra for this room type.

BTW, I requested a Boardwalk view 7 months out (first day I could) and was waitlisted the entire time (F&W). I asked for availability on check-in.

If the only ressie you can make is for preferred view (non-lagoon) you could try requesting a room near the Village Green. These are rooms that are facing the lagoon (boardwalk) but are very very close to the lobby area that I think you can't see a whole lot of the boardwalk. I guess you can mostly see the staircase area and the lawn area that leads to the boardwalk. There is some question as to whether these rooms are considered preferred boardwalk view or preferred non-boardwalk view. I guess it comes down to how Disney wants to use the rooms on any given occasion.

Good luck - we also ditto the standard rooms are GREAT! Great point savings and really decent views overall...

everyone knows boardwalk is a busy place i like the standard view for the peace and quiet, the lower points is a minor plus

I had a studio in this section, and it was great! The studio balcony was extra large, we were on the 2nd floor, so we were only a short distance from the lobby. I had booked this very late in the game, only 2 months out and from a waitlist, and it was only designated preferred.

We've had a week in a studio room (high floor) overlooking the village green. It was the first week of December when the Christmas decorations were up. It was really lovely. We were only awakened once in the night by revellers and it wasn't too bad anyway.

We usually stay in a standard view studio which have overlooked the front entrance. There was just one time when the view wasn't so good - it was a first floor studio and we had a view of the bushes about 8/10 feet away. So I will always request a high floor in the future.

I just got back from a trip where we checked in and out three times while we were there. This was the only way that we could get a room at the BWV during October! The first few nights were in standard view and the middle nights were in a Boardwalk view. We had a beautiful view of Spaceship Earth and briefly looked at it before we headed out to the parks. In my opinion, I agree with the previous poster who said, spring for the view if you are bringing a guest. Otherwise the standard view is fine. I love that I can say that I have stayed in that room before but, I can live without it from here on out!

We have always stayed in Standard rooms as well, until June 06. We are going to stay in a PV boardwalk view! We have 8 going in a 2BR, so I hope we will like it. As a lot have said, the SV is cheaper points, but hey, wanted to try the "nice view". Hope to enjoy it...

Do the villas look anything on the inside like the Boardwalk Inn? I am trying a studio. In the pictures, the decor looks very different from what we've had on the inn side. Are there indeed bright peach and yellow walls and multi-colored quilts and a striped blue and white sleeper? In the hotel, the rooms were all pretty much blue and white with some deep pink flowers.
