Preferred View @ BWV?

The preferred view we had at the BWV was facing the 'quiet pool', etc. We just got back from the BCV. My husband's first visit to BCV and 3rd stay at BWV. Asked him which he preferred, and he said the BWV with the preferred view. Even when I reminded him how close Epcot was to BCV and the close up parking and wonderful gelatto at BCV. Still liked the BWV better-BUT the only kids we have to add into this equation is ourselves.

The trick is to NOT get the preferred view when booking BWV.

I am not a fan of BWV, far preferring BCV. (OKW is first of course).

I don't like the hike to the villa from the parking lot, nor do I much like the layout of the resort itself.

So, I'd go with a bad view at BCV before staying at BWV. :confused3

I have never stayed at BCV, but preferred view at BWV is any view that is not of the parking lot (Standard) or of the Boardwalk itself (Boardwalk view). It can be a view of either of the pools, the canal, or one of the "garden" areas.

Personally, I always try to get Standard view.. It takes less points...

I think the bigger question would be what type of ambiance do you want? BCV is more soothing.. BWV is more active...

The difference between each to Epcot/MGM is negligible..

We got lucky one year, we reserved a BWV preferred view and waitlisted for a standard view. The waitlist came through because we were only charged the points for the standard view yet, ended up ground floor a few feet from the elevator, boardwalk and we could walk out our patio to Luna Park Pool and Leaping Horse Libations. I love all of DVC, but in '08 we're taking DDs best friend and possibly DH's sister and her partner. So I know they'll all like both. I have the 11 month availability at BCV. Would I be able to book that and then switch to BWV at 7 months if I wanted or is that a bad thing to do?

It depends on the time of year. Most of the time you will be able to switch but sometimes it's not possible. It's not a bad thing to do at all. Many people do just that and it's considered a perfectly acceptable practice.

Is there a reason the standard view is so hard to get?
I would think that most would not prefer a view of the parking lot which would make them easier to come by.

I believe it is due to members who love the resort but also enjoy the lower point structure of the Standard View over the Preffered Views at BWV. ::yes::

Only 20% of the BWV's are standard view so they are harder to book.

Really? I never knew that. Thanks for that tip. No wonder there are hard to get!
