I hope I'm not repeating a ? but can anyone tell me what this is and how much extra it cost? Also, I'll be staying there soon and would like some advice on building request. Which would be near the guitar pool and foodcourt? My ds is excited about the guitar pool.

Sounds like you are staying at Music. If you request a preferred room and don't like a lot of noise, I suggest you ask for a room NOT facing the pool. We woke up to the music at the pool playing very early, and got to hear teens scream by the pool til very late night, early morning. What a difference being on the back side was (just walking there..we faced the pool..we won't again). I myself, prefer non preferred, one of the Jaz buildings. Close to the pool, but without all the noise. Also, one side has smoking on the first floor (not that people don't smoke in the non smoking..they do), and the smoke rises, so if you aren't a smoker, you might want to ask for a non smoking building, not just a non smoking room.

THe preferred rooms at Music are the Calypso Section. It costs $10 more per night to stay there. You need to call CRO and check availability and change your reservation if you would like to upgrade. We have a preferred room reserved for May 3-17.

We stayed in Calypso (Columbus Day weekend/Oct '03) and Rock Inn in January.
I always ask for non-smoking, corner room, top floor, backside.
We did pay $10 a night extra for the October stay. Our room was facing the pool, 2nd floor.
We thought OMG -- . But the room is VERY well insulated facing the pool. Once that door was shut, we did not hear anything at all from the outside. And they even had loud music playing.
However -- ;) we did hear all the rooms around us. Not bad. But it was the only WDW resort stay where I felt like I was in a motel from the noise coming from the other rooms. It was a busy weekend though, and it wasn't like it was terrible. Just what you expect out of a busy hotel.
I said then I wish ALL the walls were as noise insulated as the front of the room was!! :jester: ;)

Epcotlady,
We stayed at the All Star Music during (of all things) Cheerleading Competition Week (Feb 6-13 '03). We had a preferred room in the Calypso Building, ground floor dead smack in front of the pool, We didn't hear a thing at night (although walking those Disney parks and chasing a 5yo may have had something to do with that). It was worth the extra cost because we were so close to the transportation and Melody Hall( great to be so close to refill your drink mugs).
You should have a great trip wherever you plan on staying, esp. On Site.:Pinkbounc

Thanks everyone so much for your advice. I feel soo much better about this resort. Thanks again, after all, knowledge is power:p

Just for the record, we stayed at Music in July, 2000 and were put in the Country Fair building, which is quite a long walk to the food court, buses, etc. We were WISHING we were in Calypso after doing that hike a few times daily! Good luck. :D
