Preferred room may not be honoured???

I have just dipped into the resort forum and a post there was about a preferred room booked but because they didnt check in till 9pm they were told all preferred rooms had gone !!!! I am really worried about this as the reason I have booked preferred is to be as near to reception as possible for safety especially late at night any advice would be grateful

Unfortunately that can happen, as hotels overbook just like airlines do. You may have a slight advantage if you do online check in, but if you are arriving very late in the day, you could still end up with a standard room.

However, I have stayed at nearly all the WDW resorts as a solo, and I haven't felt unsafe at any of them. I just use the same common sense I would use anywhere else.

If you get there and you don't get your preferred room, request a room as close to the main building as possible. It might not be all that much of a difference in physical location. Just be sure to get a refund on the difference in price!

Ok I have just spoke to a cast member she said she hadn't heard of this before I explained that it wasn't just one comment but a few and I was very nervous she said she would put a note on my booking and we had a lovely chat so I threwin I wouldn't e a room in the fifties section and she added that too I thanked her profusely and fingers crossed it will work out fine and if not I can refer to the notes on my booking . I'm so glad I saw these comments or I would have been so upset on my arrival if the situation had occurred at least I am prepared Thanks DIS

On my solo trip I stayed at Music and because of delays arrived late (around 1am) i did online check in and when I saw where the room was on the map (allll the way at the back) I asked if there was anything else a little closer and explained I was by myself. She said there was nothing she could do at that hour but advised me to speak to the front desk in the AM. I was going to just suck it up until I actually saw the room, aside from being in the back of the resort, I was in the back of the building, facing woods! im not usually a scaredy cat, but it was my first time traveling alone so I decided to be cautious. The next morning I stopped by the desk and explained the situation and they said go to the parks that there will be something ready for me when I got back. When I came back they moved me right outside of the pool area. I felt much better!

I didnt request prefered and didnt expect it, I just wanted something more visable, but Im glad they took my concern seriously.
