Seems like the up and coming thing is the laptop computers. It's like having your computer on wheels. I hear even college kids take there laptops to class. Just curious which do you prefer? Laptop or regular desktop computer?

I prefer a regular system. I have way too much hooked up to my computer to deal with a lap top.

BF prefers a laptop. He only uses his computer for writing, and a few programs.

Love my laptop, but it's old. I have a new desktop which I use for my photo editing and scrapbooking stuff as well as for programs such as architecture programs. I do not have enough space on my lap top for these kinds of programs.

Regular system so much more you can do with it as far as upgrades and so on. I have had numerous lap tops and sold each and every one of them withing 3 months of getting them.

I prefer a desktop at home. I'll be getting a laptop for college though, because it's portable and if I have a bad roomie I can bring it to the library to work, or sit outside in the sunshine. I can even bring it home on the weekends (because I will be coming home). I think it depends on the situation. Here I have the space for a desktop. I prefer it because it's got a real mouse, real keyboard, etc. In college, I won't have space for something so big.

Oh yes, very good point, printer, scanner, CD burner, web cam, etc, etc, etc are on the desk top. The lap top is strictly for internet use in the living room/kitchen. Comes in handy while cooking, watching news, etc, you can look stuff up without having to go in the other room.

JOKE: How can you tell you live with a computer nerd? There are more computers than people in your house. :Pinkbounc

Maybe it's a man thing. I like the desktop too. DH prefers the laptop. He said we actually have more memory on the laptop than desktop computer. Our desktop is getting kinda old. I must admit the laptop is faster than the desk computer. :yo-yo:

HEY! I'm a woman!! At least...let me check....yeah still a woman. :D :Pinkbounc

Desktop for home/office, laptop for travel, but also have regular mouse and keyboard, both wireless, for both DT and laptop. I hate using a laptop keyboard, except if necessary, like on a plane. Even then I use a separate mouse.

I like both, so I switch off every now and then, several times a day sometimes, I synced my desktop and my laptop to be basically identical, so there is no real change except with my laptop I can sit on the couch and watch a movie while I do my puter fun! :teeth:

YES! The BEST part. :D Do you have a wireless network? I love ours. No one has to wait, LOL.

I usually like my regular computer better, but right now I'm liking my boyfriend's laptop more, since my computer is too old and used up to handle the Sims 2!

Both. Our PC has all the extra gadgets and gizmos that we use for all sorts of stuff. (aren't I so specific?! LOL) But I use the laptop I'm on right now for most of my web-surfing. We also have the wireless thing, so I can take my laptop anywhere in the house and surf the net. It's so cool! LOL!! :teeth:

I LOVE my laptop. Bought it about a year and a half ago. THe DH learned how to use Ebay and I could never get on the computer after that! LOL. So I bought the laptop. I almost never use the desktop now. My laptop is connected to the main computer so I can use the printer etc connected to it. I also have wireless so that is great. I think this laptop will go with DD to college next fall and I will get a new one :)

We have a laptop (DELL Inspirion 9100) and three regular desk tops (well, 2.5...one works only when it wants to). I perfer the desktop. I like to use the laptop so I can surf the net while laying in bed (can you say "LAZY"). The "mouse" on the laptop can be difficult, so we bought a small mouse to hook up to it and I'll hook the digital camera up to it. We're taking it with us to Disney. DH is a college student and takes it to school with him. He has a "jump drive" (or thumb drive) and that makes it easy to move info from one computer to another. Our laptop is the newest computer and is more loaded then any other.

Wireless is GREAT! My dh thinks it is a lot of fun to take the laptop in the car and drive around to see where he can get internet connectivity. Remember to change the password on your router or it would be real easy for someone outside your house with a laptop to break into your computer.

I DID, till I got mad at it and broke my wireless PCI card cause it was junk, lol, I have since bought another one though. I just haven't mustered up the energy or brainage to put it all back up, personally, I think that my wireless router is junk, but don't want to pay another 50 bucks for a new one. I have a wired router and I have a hub, but actually, my modem is hooked up to desktop with a 50 foot cable, lol, so I just take it from one onto the other :)

We have both. 2 laptops and 2 desktops.

It really depends on what Im doing, If I'm just dis'n usually Im on a laptop on the couch. If I'm doing "real" internet stuff, then I go on my desktop. I have nothing installed on the laptop like the webcam or printers etc... so anything requiring them goes with the desktop.

We also have cable on our desktop (laptops are works, I'm not going to buy a wireless router etc... when this laptop isn't mine...and they're talking about taking all the laptops back- for the EMC and giving us all desktops...) so if I'm doing something that needs speed- well its the desktop!

the other laptop is DH's he uses it at his store as his main computer, so it stays there...and the other desktop is an old one- running windows 98 that the kids have in the playroom for their games etc..with no internet hookup

Love my laptop! Wireless - can surf the net from anywhere in the house - or out! ;) Tho, it is harder to see the LCD screen in the sunshine.......

We have wireless printing too. Love it! hid the printer in a closet.

I use the laptop for everything - paying bills online, message boards, digital pictures, web site, Christmas cards, crafts for the kids.

I like the portability of it. If I am in the middle of something, I can take it with me to another part of the house and still get "real" work done - like laundry, cooking, watching the kids...... ;)

We also take the laptop on vacation - it plays DVDs in the hotel room, and computer games, and we can download our digi pics, and even read the news and check email.

Man, am I glad we're not the only ones with 4 computers. We have two desktops in the living room...one is mine (the crappier one of the two) and one is dh's (he has the best computer and the best desk and the best chair...btw, I'm using his stuff right now!), then we have a computer in the office which is dh's work computer...he brought it home when the company changed locations and the fourth one is the laptop which we bought for dh's "work and school". DS likes to watch movies on the laptop and he has his own desktop shortcuts to Disney and Cartoon Network.
