Predictions for DVC future

1) more direct member perks (even park ticket discounts)
2) priority access to dining at home resorts (via waitlists)
3) less point requirements for DCL
4) (this one is a stretch), but for those of us that buy into Riviera during this turbulent time there, some type of reward for sticking with DVC during this time.

what’s your thoughts? What would you hope to see in next 50 years?

I would like to see a Dining plan discount and some more customizable merchandise

I foresee a complete separation between the O14 resorts and everything RIV and later. RIV resale restrictions could be relaxed to include RFL and later, but I don't see them allowing RIV resale to be used on the O14 ever...and vice-versa.

What I would LIKE to see from DVC is a far cry from what I PREDICT will happen. I enjoy my DVC, and have for over 15 years. However, they have been constantly cutting back on what they have as perks and value for the cost. Using your list:
1) Most of these are gone and none will be added.
2) There will be no priorities for owners vis-a-vis dining. They MAY continue the 10%-20% dining discounts at some places.
3) They will more likely INCREASE points needed for cruises as said cruises continue to increase in price.
4) A reward for sticking with DVC? Well, they do occasionally send out DVC stickers and faux art.

Frankly, I won't be around in 50 years. If I were to be, then I'd like to see them not take away perks and continue to make DVC a better timeshare rather than trending toward "industry standard" as they have been doing for the better part of a decade.

Off OP's list:

1. Discounts will happen if and only if park attendance falls to unacceptable levels.
2. Not a chance.
3. LOL. Again, not a chance, so long as DCL continues increasing the cash cruise prices.
4. The "reward" is the long term discount you get over paying cash for the same accommodations. DVC and Disney owe you nothing more. They occasionally offer perks of varying value...but don't expect anything beyond that.

I think you will slowly see DVC become a more tiered system for booking and further distinguish between L14 and the new resorts,

I do agree that there is a chance they might allow RIV owners who buy resale a chance to book Reflections, but only if it is creating something big with booking at RIV,

I would love to see them come out with potential ticket discounts, even if they extend the discount they offer to AP holders to all DVC members, even when they don’t have a DVC AP.

i just hope they keep the merchandise and dining discounts they hsve. it would be nice to get a dining plan discount, but I’d settle for being able to retune with my refillable mug and pay a reduced rate to activate!,,

I’m not sure how they can change RIV restrictions in the future
Imagine if I sold a contract for $100ppt and then DVC changes rules to make that contract more attractive, I’m going to be super annoyed. Nothing will change, (for the better)

The issue with all of your perks is that Disney is siloed. dining and parks and DCL have their own P&L. They are not going to provide things that cost money to DVC.

Apparently there is language that allows them to do that. It’s like Other language they have in place that allows them flexibility.

With Disney, they know what they need to do in the contract to ensure they are never boxed in.

I would like to see the 7 month window be moved to 4 months.

I don't like planning vacations @ 11 months, and @ 7 months, your home resort gets taken by people from others. Force people to book at their home resort for 11-4 months...then open it up.

Would allow you to wait a little while to book and not worry about things being sold out at home resort.

Never happen...but I would love it.

What is interesting is the the POS only guarantees you a 1 month advantage for booking home resort. Can you imagine if they ever did that?

I don't think they should do this though, most regualr resort room/cash staying guests book at the 6 month mark to start doing their ADR's, it would be backwards for DVC to be put at a disadvantage like this under the 6 month mark even at the cross-property point, no?

I just want the FL resident weekday pass. That is all!

I fully disagree with any discounts just because someone lives in the state. There is nothing extra that Florida Residents pay for Disney being located there, so a discount does not make sense. If anything, Disney brings a much better Florida economy and a majority of people that bring that economy are out of state. I would favor all Florida Resident discounts be cut rather than more be offered.

Fully agree - if we had priority at 4 months, there would be 75% less availability than we currently have at the 7 or even 11 month mark. That would be an awful move

Using the four points of the OP's list. the more likely four-point future, based on what we really know about DVC, is as follows:

1. There will be further DVC discounts designed to make members buy more because of the belief of a discount despite an increase in Disney's margins. For example, we will likely always have an about $100 discount on an annual pass, but Disney's net income per sale of each AP will actually significantly increase year over year, simply by its making significant increases in the price of the annual pass every year as it has done in the last 10 years.

2. DVC members will have more exclusive access to dining by DVC's creating many more special dining and other events for DVC members only, while the cost per person on average will increase about 150% within the next ten years.

3. The points required for DCL will be increased for times when there are actual ship departures and decreased for other times.

4. To reward DVC members further for staying with DVC, DVC will create a brick display similar to the former Walk Around The World display at MK, call it the "DVC Membership Exclusive," and you will be able to get your name in a brick in a walkway for about $2,000 or more.

Totally agree. But they can give us DVC members those pass deals. I would sooooo buy that weekday pass and book our trips Sun to Sat. Perfect for us! That pass is 1/2 the price of the stupid Gold pass we (DVC) get. Why do the FL residents get that and us DVC (who drop tons of $$$$) don't?

Because Florida residents are more likely to make multiple park only trips throughout the year where they will spend money in the parks if they get a discounted pass.

We (my fam), as DVC, will have 4 trips this year...4th coming in Dec. Total of 20 days on WDW property and an additional week off site nearby (but will be going on property to do things and spend $$). But we can't get all those great pass deals.

Because Disney believes you will come the same amount of days no matter what. 99% of guest from out of state can't just wake up at home in the morning and decide I want to go to Disney World today and do it. Many Florida residents can and a discount pass encourages them to do that. The objective of the Florida pass is to get those people into the park and spending money.
