Pre trip report, and the calamity ensues

Work has been ridiculous the past month and a half! Have been working on RV and car trailer off and on the whole time. Car trailer is ready to go, RV needs a coat of wax and it's done. DIS Boards sign is printed and laminated (Thanks Bama Ed, instructions were real easy). Tomorrow clothes, food and drink start going in. Car is going to dealer Thursday for minor recall and will be done in the afternoon. Leaving Chicago area Friday evening, stopping for the night somewhere south of Indy. Saturday will get us to GA/FL stateline, easy drive Sunday for check in, AND THEN 2 whole weeks at the Fort, WOOHOO!!!!! My DD is bringing a friend along who has never been to WDW, so it'll be like everything new all over again.
Now if I can just figure out how to post my pictures and not have them not have them take up the whole page, I'm hoping to pull off a trip report while there. Maybe I'll just turn the kids loose on this, they are way better at this computin' stuff then I am

Have a wonderful and safe trip. You are the smart one, taking two nights on the road. We live just north of you in SW Wisconsin, and get so excited to get down to the Fort, that we push too hard the first day, stop, sleep, and then arrive wearily the next day early afternoon! Not going to do that late December, but will skirt snow. Have fun, enjoy, and when you have time, share your pictures.

As I say in the sign thread, though, having a sign out is not enough. You need to communicate like through a live trip report what site you are in and let folks who might be there know when to catch you ("tomorrow we will leave early for the MK but the next day we will be around our site"), etc.

I have found that I have to be the "looker" rather than the "lookee" to meet other DIS'sers (for the most part). Our mix of Fort days/Park days is heavily slanted toward Fort days so I have time to go looking for folks (and finding the FWRR rails, and sitting on the porch at TE, and taking a late night hot tub swim, etc.). For $100 a day now, I expect some sizzle from the theme parks. MK still has it each trip. Did EPCOT time before last (still playing Captain EO) and DHS time before that (the Star Wars makeover coming soon will put it off limits soon). AK I think we did twice in my life. Somebody wake me when there is something new (is Avatarland done yet? Could care less about the movie...)

Two weeks is a nice long vacation. Don't let that Florida summer heat and humidity slow you down. Take it easy, take a break and go back to the campsite for a swim and/or a nap (at my age a daily nap is becoming more attractive), and lots of cold beverages.

Joe (that's my brother's name too), I haven't seen you practice any picture posting in this thread yet. That kind of slacking is not permitted once you tease us with the possibility of pictures and updates. But seriously, any updates will be appreciated.

A great deal more planning, packing and maintenance goes into a FW Disney trip but sure pays off in the end. I can't imagine doing Disney any other way. We start about six weeks before the trip on all the details. Probably earlier this year since we leave right after the holidays.
I'm about 2.5-3 hours south of Chicago (near Champaign) and we take off about 430 am make the drive down to Lake City FL around 10 pm. We wake up refreshed and have a short couple hour drive to the Fort the following day.

Oh just one tiny issue... moving kid, her car and everything to Disney for the college program! I tried to convince DH and DD that the car was unnecessary but I lost the fight but we are taking the RV out for a local trip soon! I will get the Eagle down to the Fort SOON!

The Fort is more RVing than camping. The camping group we belong to is not really a camping club. Air Conditioned game room, very little cooking in the trailers and all three connections are a must.
Like Tiggerdad said "hookup and come on down". Once your DD is here, this is a good reason to bring her the homemade cookies. And peanuts for Tiggerdad's squirrels. Pretty good chance you will see one or two or three.

Hey there, I like the simplicity of Picasa for my pictures. You can download the program onto the laptop you'll have with you and try to upload pictures before you go for practice. After you hook up your phone or camera to the laptop choose Picasa as the location for the pictures to go. When they show up on Picasa you can choose the pictures you'd like to post, click on export at the bottom and it automatically resizes to 800 for you. Picasa is simple but has other features that make your pictures fun if you want it.
