I was wondering what everyone is reading pre-trip. Any Disney junkies out there gearing up with a good read?

I (of course) read the current Unofficial Guide to Disneyland, but this year I am also reading a very interesting book.

It is called "The Disney Version" by Richard Schickel. It is a semi-scholarly book on Walt Disney and the beginnings of the Disney company; indeed, some say it was the first anti-Disney book (although the author and I tend to disagree ;) ). It has some very interesting information about Walt's life, childhood, the birth of Mickey Mouse, etc. It is interesting because it was written in the 1960s and is the first "unofficial" biography of Walt Disney.

Any other great reads? I need to get my Amazon on!

To be honest the only stuff I read was what could be found here on the Dis... Plus the Al Lutz stuff when it's updated.

Agreed.

allears - for menus
the dlr website - for times, refurbs, shows etc.

& the disboard. (the threads of interest to me & all the stickys at the top of the of the first page...especially HydroGuy's.)

:)

The first Disney book I ever read was a small book, rather anti-Disney, by Carl Hiaasen. I'm OK being a fan now, but I like having a balance to bring me to the full reality, sometimes. :)

I liked Birnbaum's guide book, as well as the unofficial guide.
