I have been meaning to write a trip report since last December when we made our first trip to Universal. We had been to Disney over 100 times through the years and after several not so good trips my husband said never again. (I tended to agree with him) I planned a trip to Univeral for a Christmas trip last December to surprise him. We stayed at Royal Pacific for three nights- (We is my husband, my son- eight years old with health issues-autism/epilepsy,etc.. and myself) and to say it was perfect is an understatement! My husband fell in love with everything as did my son and myself. We were planning our next trip before we left. Fast forward six months later- we had many health problems with our son and had to put our next trip on hold until May/June.. we decided to try PB this time and to take my mom(77 years old and a disney fanatic) We ended up staying in a deluxe club room for four nights. I have to say this is the most incredible resort I have ever stayed at.
We arrived on Monday morning - Memorial day. We live in NE Fla and it takes about 2 /1/2 hours to drive. Our room was not ready so we pre-registered and got room keys etc... and headed to the club lounge. The lounge was huge - the food offerings were plentiful the whole time we were there. The staff were incredible(Elsie and Samantha were especially nice!) We headed out to the boat dock and headed to Citywalk. My son rode the little merry-go -round several times - we take it easy with him and kind of go with the flow. We headed to US first and did ET first. We all loved it! We also did Jimmy neutron and Shrek- also loved them! My mom and husband did MIB(I can't do spinning rides) and then we did Jaws(my mom got the chum bucket drenching this time!) We headed back to the resort on the boat- the boat captains were all great but Steve was the best- he was incredible with our son. Our room was ready so we headed up to check it out. It was a deluxe room in the Villa wing. It was very close to the lounge and not a bad walk to the boat dock. It was right over the beach pool and had a balcony! We all loved it! We headed down to the beach pool and swam all aternoon. We ate lunch at Splendido Pizza. The pizza was great and everyone else had burgers and fries and onion rings. We had gelatto for dessert- vanilla and raspberry- it was addicting! I ate some every day we were there. We headed over to IOA until it closed- did everything in Seuss landing- and headed back to hotel. We walked around the bay and looked in shops and sat ourside at Thirsty fish and listened to the opera singers on the balcony. They are amazing singers and my son loved this. When we got back to our room for the night someone had left a Spiderman gift basket for our son and there was an envelope with four vouchers for the breakfast buffet downstairs. Not sure why they did this but thought it was very nice!
The next morning I got up early and did the walk from PB past the HRH(took a look at the grounds- this resort is beautiful also!) and to the parks and back. This is a very relaxing walk- I walked to RPR the next day- I still love that resort too!
We headed down to the breakfast buffet- it was the best one I have ever been to - we ended up doing this every morning. We got into a routine of breakfast here - to the parks for a few hours- swim all afternoon- back to the parks till close. My husband said this was the most relaxing vacation he has ever been on.
One thing I would like to point out about the rickshaw bikes - I know some people hate them but our son had a blast on them. My mom has walking issues and can not do stairs and has a hard time on ramps. These bikes were a lifesaver for her. If you take the boat to citywalk you can not avoid stairs/ramps. The bikes would take her right to the entrance to both parks so we were grateful for that.
I can honestly say I love everything about this resort- it takes days to see everything it has to offer. Even my mom- the difficult to please disney fanatic could not find anything wrong with it!
We left on a Friday morning and the next day home my husband asked if I would like to return for my birthday?(June 18th) Of couirse I said yes! I made reservations for this coming Friday-June 22nd- Monday June 25th. This trip will be just my husband , my son and myself. We reserved a bay view room this time and reserved a cabana for the week-end also, since we spend so much time at the pool.
On my last two trips I took no notes so I wrote this from memory only. This upcoming trip I will keep more detailed notes and take pictures! I want to thank everyone for all the help when we were planning our trips-all the advice was perfect and helped greatly I can't wait to head back Friday!
