Pre-trip COVID test question

For vaccinated passengers, does the pre-trip COVID test have to be within 48 hours of ship departure OR can it be anytime of day as long as it's two days before departure? Specifically, if I'm sailing on Monday afternoon, can I have my family's pre-COVID testing done at 3am on Saturday (via onpoint telehealth)? It sure would be nice to know that we all had a negative test before we fly all the way out to the port.

It’s 2 calendar days, not 48 hours. For a Monday embarkation, you can test anytime Saturday or Sunday, day or night.

Any guesses on how long this requirement will remain? I am hoping it won't go beyond this calendar year.

All we know is that the CDC did not renew their cruise ship program and protocols are left to each cruise company to decide. Some cruise ship lines have eliminated testing while others haven’t weighed in yet.
