pre- Thanksgiving Balloon Blow up - anyone been?

Hello, Can anyone tell me their inside tips for this. I have been to the parade but this year we decided to go into the city to catch the balloons being blown up. I have the information from Macy's but would like the inside scoop. So if you have been, please share. Thanks, Gina

It is a blast! The streets are closed off and are basically one way for pedestrians....meaning that you can only enter in certain places and exit at the opposite end of the street. It is so crowded you can only walk in one direction anyway. Be prepared to walk at a snails pace, and wear warm comfortable clothing. Your best bet for the subway is the C train to 81st. It should put you right out where you need to be.

This says it all, except for the "blast" part. I was FREEZING cold and annoyed that I couldn't move. Would not do it again.

I'm jealous... I've been several times and I also think that it is one of the most magical times of the year... Wear warm clothing and stick close to your loved ones.

Thanks for the advice we are heading out after dinner. Yes I will dress very warm. Today was really cold and the sun was out! Happy Thanksgiving All!
