Pre-Registraton for Disneyland Hotels

We received our confirmation for our stay at the Grand Californian this August, and it says that you can expedite check-in by phoning them and doing pre-registration 2 hours before arrival.

Has anyone done this and is it worth doing? How long did the phone call take and did it really save that much time at the check-in desk?
