If I were to pre-purchase the photo package for my cruise in August, does it get charged right away? Or is it similar to excursions where that gets charged on your bill? I'm still flip flopping between getting it or not but may just wait until a week or 2 before my cruise before purchasing...do these ever sell out/become unavailable?

Thanks! :)

It's charged to your onboard account.

They don't sell out.

You can cancel a photo package up until the last full day of the cruise with no penalty.

How does it work if I'm buying a package for another stateroom? When buying the package I assume I'd enter their reservation number but then the package would show up on their onboard account and I'd have to give them the cash for it?

You could go to Shutters once onboard to clear up who's paying, and they could switch which account it's charged to.

When we have prepurchased the photo package the last three cruises it was charged to our credit card immediately by My Cruise Photos.

If you want to cancel, you can do so on board, but it will already be charged and thus be a refund back to your original payment method.

is this different than the my cruise photos package?
No, all the packages that you can pre-purchase online you can purchase onboard the ship.

Apparently, there's been a change in the pre-purchase option, in that you will be charged immediately when you purchase.

All packages can be cancelled onboard the cruise. You have to do so by the last full day of the cruise. If you pre-purchased (already charged to your credit card) they will credit back you card. If you purchase onboard (when it's charged to your onboard account), they will reverse the charge on the onboard account.

This is how it worked for us on the 4/22 Fantasy sailing. We downgraded from all photos to the 25 digital (or 20, or whatever the next one down was) photos package. Full pre-pay was credited to my Visa and the new package was charged to my stateroom. It took 15 days for the credit to show up on my credit card (they warned me of that when I did it).

Did they give you a hard time about downgrading your purchase? When I casually mentioned that I thought the package was refundable, if there weren't a lot of photos I wanted, they really hemmed and hawed about how they have other packages and they were sure we'd love our photos (we did).

No penalty to when in advance you purchase the package, as long as you meet the minimum date (I forget it if is 3 days or a week or two before sail.)

@Kontos, As for buying for a different stateroom, do you mean you are only buying pictures for that other stateroom, or are you buying that in addition to your own? And are you talking about the all digital package with the 50% off the second stateroom, or just a regular package?

I'm going to be with my parents in 1 room. My brother/sis in law and nephews will be in another room. I wanted to buy a photo package for my brother's room only since either he or one of the kids should be in all the pictures we take

It's cheaper if you buy ahead. First cruise I bought onboard. This last cruise I bought ahead and saved maybe $30. No issues at all and we ended up with 175 on a 4 night cruise. I loved the majority of them

You get a reduced price on the full digital package only. Not the smaller, number-specific packages. Those are the same price whether you purchase them online or onboard.

And, if you're wanting to partake of the "one room buys at full price, second room at 50% off" option, the second room must be purchased onboard. But, the first room can get the reduced pre-cruise price and it still counts as "full price".

Not at all. It just took awhile to process everything. I just stated that there were only 20 or so pictures we liked and I didn't anticipate collecting any more since it was Day 5 of a 7 day cruise. Turns out we did add couple more, but that capped out or new package perfectly.

Most cruises only PRE sell all print, all digital, digital plus prints or the photo book. From what I have seen and read they are all around 15% cheaper when pre purchased and totally refundable and downgradable. Of these options not all are available for pre purchase for all ships and cruises. This is based on research I've done for my cruise, since I am pre purchasing for the first time.

There are no more packages that include prints. Only digital packages. Only the full digital package and the largest limited number package (20 digital pictures) have the pre-cruise 15% discount.

Yes, they are refundable and downgradable, as long as you do so by the last full day onboard. You can't do it on debarkation morning.

My cruise has an all print package available for pre purchase so your information is incorrect.
