Pre-Paying Gratuities and Excursions?

Hi everyone,

As a Canadian watching our dollar sink to the bottom I am looking to pre-pay as many things as possible before it gets worse. On the old system, I swear there was a way you could essentially make a payment after PIF that would essentially serve as a credit on your stateroom account. I can't seem to find this on the new system. Is it gone? Am I just missing it? Anyone have experience with this? Is it as straightforward as it sounds - add money to room using credit card now, shows up as a credit, and then once on board, excursions, drinks, grats etc... get used against it?

I feel your pain. We are leaving in 6 weeks and our dollar isn't getting any better. We bought gift cards that can be used on the ship as credit. I was told you could not prepay.

I was going to recommend purchasing gift cards as well. I purchase discounted Disney gift cards from Sams club and use those to settle my account.

If you go to the stateroom gifts page, there is a place to buy onboard credit. You can also just call Disney to buy it. I've done this on past cruises and haven't heard they have taken that option away.

We've always called to pre-pay gratuities and any other amount we want for the onboard account. I don't believe it can be done online.

we did this back in August (called DCL directly) and it worked well. the on board credit covered our souvenirs and tips.

We Americans feel your pain also. Economy is in really bad shape here in the USA.

You can do this but not online, you will have to call and have them do it for you. We are also Canadian and recently paid off our 2 staterooms for our Alaskan cruise in August to try and save a bit of money. Next I plan to do the same as you and prepay the gratuities and also add some money to our stateroom credit so it's not as much of a shock after the cruise.
