pre-pay sat nav hire not from car rental outlet

I really want to use a sat nav, but my trusty Garmin with US maps has died on me so thought I would hire one, can anyone recommend a sat nav hire company that they have used, that will send the unit to my UK address. I think that this will be cheaper than hiring from car rental outlet. Thanks

Cant answer your question i'm afraid - but dont hire one from the rental company.

We did this a couple of years ago and on reading the samll print when we got to the hotel we found out that we were liable for loss or damage to the unit to a maximum of $250 and this was not covered by the Insurance.

Needless to say we only used it a couple of times and it spent most of the holiday in the room safe.

Probably best just to go to Walmart and buy a new Tom Tom.

They are only about $90 which is probably less than hiring one for a fortnight.

Seems to be too much hassle with renting, another thread I was reading a few days ago said they rented in UK and took it with them but the maps were useless.
I would keep an eye on Ebay, watch for any offers in UK stores or buy in Walmart, they have TomTom from $68 Rollback just now, with tax thats under £50. and when I got home downloaded the maps i needed fro here

Thanks for your replies, I did think about getting one in Walmart, my only worry was getting from Miami airport to a walmart - DH is beyond hopeless when it comes to actual map reading, and I am the only driver so thought this would make my life so much easier.
