Hi everyone!

My husband and I are going to the world in September, but we are not doing the free dining. Do you guys think it is worth it to buy one of those Disney gift cards to pay for our meals with? And if you do, how much would be a good amount to put on it? So far our ADR's are as follows:

Crystal palace for dinner
Cape May Cafe for dinner
Restaurant Marrakesh for lunch
Captains grille for lunch

We are not big breakfast people, so we don't have to worry about having a breakfast every day, maybe just once. We can do cs for most lunches or dinners that I haven't mentioned, but we might do a restaurant or 2 at DTD.
Do all restaurants accept these cards? Just a few questions. Any help is greatly appreciated!

On our trip in Dec. we too were not on the Dining Plan. I bought gift cards and used them throughout Disney. I'm the type that likes to have everything paid before we go and this was our way of doing this. We gave our girls each one for spending money as well. They took them everywhere we went, even the snack stands and is was great to check out with a zero balance. My only advice, write the numbers down from your cards, if they are misplaced, or lost, you can go to guest services and they will help you replace them.

I'm not 100% sure they all take the Gift cards...but for figuring how much $$ to put on the cards to cover the meals I would look at the menu's (here within the site) and estimate what everyone would cost.

If you are staying at a WDW resort, you can use your Disney Gift Card as a deposit to enable the charging feature on your room key (KTTW card). I've never been one of those "I hate carrying two cards, it's SOOOOOOO inconvenient!" kind of people, but I do find it very convenient to be able to charge meals to my room key.

Any unspent balance from your deposit will be refunded to you in cash at check out.

All Disney-owned venues with an electronic reader at WDW accept Disney Gift Cards - restaurants, eateries, shops, stalls, and fixed carts.

Non-Disney restaurants, such as those in the Swan & Dolphin, and those on Downtown Disney's West Side, do not accept Disney Gift Cards.
