pre-paid debit gift cards

Anyone know of any debit gift cards (ex. Visa, AE) that have the lowest fees or any promotion? I have several people to buy these for but the $5 dollar fee for each one is not worth it in the end because of how many I have to buy! Thanks in advance!

If you have Wachovia Bank near you, they have a Visa gift card for a $1.95 fee.

Why not write a check to each person on your gift list?

Gift cards are a gimmick that makes money for stores and banks. Many have hidden traps such as monthly fees or activation fees (deducted from the card value) or expiration dates, as well as the purchase price you mentioned.

According to Paul Harvey, radio news commentator, on average half of the value of gift cards and gift certificates issued is never redeemed.

If you have a Discover card you can get gift cards for free on their website.

If you are a customer of Commerce Bank they have Visa Gift Cards. They are free for customers.

I get them all the time for teachers and gifts for others.
