Pre-ordered MagicBands

Hi all! (My apologies if this is in the wrong place!)

My question is about the discounted/free MagicBands that you can order online before your trip--like the solid colored ones or the more 'decorated' kind. The selection online is always slim. Right now, for example, it's just the solid color MagicBands, and five random others that I'm not a fan of.

When does this selection get updated? And even if I get a plain one mailed to me, are there more options in the parks that aren't represented anywhere online?

I couldnt find any pattern, you have to keep checking. The fustrating part was i found one tried to get it, then it said it was unavailable. I gave up.
We ended up buying decals.

I have heard that it can change as often as hourly. I just checked periodically for months until something we both wanted was available at the same time. I had lists for all in my party (easy because it's just two of us this time) of which bands they want in what order. He got his second choice and I got my first. (Once he saw his second choice he was so excited and I think if he'd known he would have had it as his first.)
There are a lot of bands in the parks. Many don't or hardly ever show up online to pick from or upgrade to. You can always buy bands in the park and link them to your MDE and use them instead. An option I kept in mind was getting the free solid color band with a central icon in a color I wanted, and then buying a band I wanted in the park and switching that central piece out to the colored one. Decals might be easier.
