Pre-opening ADR at Animal Kingdom

We have 8:00am ADR for breakfast at AK (9am park opening). We prefer to drive to the parks....but it seems like I had previously read that the AK parking does not open until just before park opening.

We've either taken the bus before or came later but never had this issue.

Can I drive and park at 7:45 or so, or do I have to take the bus that day?

I would take the bus. AK is unique in that they don't open the parking lot till just a few minutes before park opening. (The cast members don't have to go through the toll booths to park. The other parks, CMs have to go through toll booths, so they have to leave them open.)

The resort buses also bypass the toll booths so can enter earlier.

We were just there in Jan. We had an 8:00 AM ADR and the park opened at 9:00. We drove, arrived at the parking lot at about 7:40 and drove in with no problems.

Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't. I wouldn't risk it.

The current consensus is to do the best you can.

Should you be tardy, you should expect to be seated reasonably, read: after only those parties with ADR's maturing before you showed up and who physically showed up before you showed up.

FWIW- we've stayed off-site for the past 4 years and have have always been able to drive in for our 8:00AM ADR.

We tried taking a taxi a few years back and had major problems. Our front desk told us (in error of course) that there were no early buses.

If you can take the bus do it. If you try driving on a morning when the CM doesn't open early you will have a mess on your hands. Not a good way to start the day.

Last November, we had an ADR for Tusker House at 8 am. We had no problem driving into the AK parking lot (around 7:30 am) and got an excellent space, right near the front of the park
