Can anyone recommend any places where we can order a pre-made Christmas Dinner? Ham or Turkey and sides... just need to heat up? I know the grocery store probably does, but I was looking more toward restaurants. Any thoughts of prices or quality would be great!

Thanks!

I would stay away from the grocery stores. I've heard "not so good things" about their holiday dinners.

If I had to pick a place, I would probably go to Boston Market (if you have one in your area). They are accustomed to roasting chickens/turkeys/hams and would probably taste the best. Their mashed potatoes are pretty good too. Not gourmet, but probably fairly good standard fare.

We had a very busy Thanksgving time and got our Thanksgiving dinner from Boston Market. I'd very much recommend it. Good food, good price, hot and ready to go when I picked it up.

Along with Boston Market, another one to look into is Honeybaked Ham. They also sell turkey, I believe, and they sell side dishes as well. :)

We have some high end grocery stores in Minnesota called Byerly's. They have a FABULOUS deli and do all kinds of catering. A pre-made Christmas meal from them would be fine. I wouldn't order one from our local store, though.

Thanks for the replies -- Keep them coming! I just searched their website and we don't have any Boston Markets in KY.

You could pick up some country crock mashed potatoes, country crock pureed sweet potatoes and a spiral sliced ham at the grocery store. Add a vegetable (maybe something with a sauce from the frozen foods), and some rolls/pies from the bakery, and you would have a fairly easy meal. We tried the country crock potatoes at thanksgiving and thought that they were pretty good.

Our super-supermarket does dinners at the holidays and I have heard they are pretty good. A family friend did it last year and they said they would never cook a big turkey meal again. If you have a large market in your area, check them out. Good luck. Jay

I don't know if these are only a LI thing but Zorns makes good meals. They are known for their chicken and they have some really good sides too. I have even found desserts there. All of their stuff is homemade, hence their really good chicken soup.

You could make it yourself without too much trouble. You can make a roast in a crockpot, so if you're busy that day you don't need to watch it. You can make a few caserole side dishes ahead of time, store them in the fridge, then just pop in the oven to bake when the time comes. Add pre-made mashed potatos like Country Crock, cook some frozen veggies, buy a couple of pies for desert, and you're ready to go!

If you're interested, let me know and I'll be happy to give you some receipes for crockpot roasts and caseroles!

I do a roast beef that you just season and put into the oven at 250 degrees for 4-6 hours. It is fall apart tender and SIMPLE. It takes less time to prepare then it would to take the wrappings off the premade stuff. Add some frozen mashed potatoes like everyone else said and a premade salad kit and some veges, instant meal. If you have Schwan's home delivery, they have awesome Garlic Mashed potatoes, only make them with milk, not water like the directions say. Ore Ida made frozen mashed potatoes that you heat on the stove with milk that are pretty good too. It takes about 5 minutes to make those potatoes.

I too recommend the Honey Baked Ham store. All of their food is excellent.

A couple of the really good deli/butcher shops around here do dinners like this, and I've always heard good things about them. Have any good butchers in your area???
