My youngest ds turns 6 the Monday before we head off to a week at WDW. He's got more than enough toys for around the house as he also has a 7yo brother and well I swear they have a hot wheels factory under the bed :rotfl: So I was trying to think of some park-oriented or necessities. We'll be heading to the parks the last week of July, and I figured there has to be something fun that could help entertain them in line or at other times. Any budget suggestions?

The only thing I'll rule out is clothes. They are getting a couple new shirts, but they like matching so I was going to get a few matching light colored tshirts for the trip. And he has the necessary swim trunks and the like already.

How about goodies for the plane if you are flying, candies to suck on and whatnot or his own gift card with spending money for the park because I'm sure once you get there he will see something he is dying to have, lol. At 6 I don't know how much he's reading independently yet but there are hidden mickey books.

One thing we always made for my younger brother and sister were those mini dog tags, they have the machines in the front of walmart, pet stores, and the like. They have all sorts of cute shapes you can choose from. On them we engrave
mom's cell: XXX-XXX-XXXX
dad's cell: XXX-XXX-XXXX
Then before we started traveling you unlace their shoe laces and re-lace them with the tag at the bottom of the laces so it can't possibly fall off. Then we trained them that if they got lost to find a mommy and show them their shoe. If they get lost, in the panic you can't count on them remembering their numbers. My sister kept hers on her shoe for years, it was a little heart. My brother had it on his shoe when we went to the parks and then onto the cruise and sometime on the cruise he got himself lost trying to find the stateroom, he was probably 9 or 10 at the time. He told us later that he wasn't worried because he was all prepared to show his shoe when he found someone and he KNEW that they could find his mom with that. (Lucky for us he found the room before he realized cell phones don't work on ships out at sea)

We're driving from NC, but I'm sure he'll love some things to entertain himself with in the car :) He's reading picture books well, but I'm not sure if the Hidden Mickey books I've seen would hold his interest in the car. I'm sure they'd interest him and his brother in the parks. Maybe some brochures and maps and the like? I don't suppose anyone has any recommendations for a young kids book?

I love the dog tags idea! I had thought about getting both boys one, but it seemed like if I put them around their necks they'd be bound to get lost. On the shoes would work perfectly!

Camera, sunglasses, swim goggles, or water bottle/fan. Also disney money for souvenirs.

What about his own camera for the trip? It could be a disposable one, or a cheap point and shoot digital camera.
