Staying at Port Orlean's Riverside prior to our cruise and will be using Disney Transport the whole way. We received the cruise book with tags for our bags, but not sure if these also serve as the tags for the Disney Magical Express. I had been under the impression we were supposed to receive a separate package with tags for airport to Disney resort, then put on the cruise tags prior to bags being collected for the cruise.

Anybody do this recently and know the procedure?

DME tags are yellow. DCL tags are teal. Do not put your DCL tags on until the night before or morning of your cruise before your bags are picked up from your resort room.

Many thanks for these excellent replies. A member of our party called DCL and they said to just use the teal tags. I was suspect but wanted some confirmation. I'll push back and get a better answer and have the yellow tags sent.

How did you book the Disney World portion, separately? If so, than you need to reserve Magical Express with Disney World, not DCL and they will send you the proper luggage tags, if it's not too late.

Booked DW resort through DCL (same confirm number). Asked them to set up Magical Express, but now I'm questioning if that was done

I suggest you contact Disney's Magical Express directly: (866) 599-0951
You'll need your resort reservation number and arrival flight information.

Enjoy your vacation!

Magical Express tags should come separately in its own envelope with a letter summarizing your flight info, and yellow tags. If you don't get the Magical Express tags, you can give your checked luggage claim tickets to Magical Express upon arrival, and they can get your bags taken care of for you. But as others have said, don't put the DCL tags on until just before DCL comes to get your bags the morning of embarkation.

I once was in line at guest service on the Fantasy and there was a couple who were not happy because they had put the DCL tags on their luggage but had a stay booked at WDW before the cruise. The luggage was taken and stored until the day of sailing. They had nothing for their stay at WDW, not even a toothbrush. Guest services was trying to tell them that it is all outlined in their documents but I gathered someone had told them to put the tags on when they flew in. lesson learned, don't always take what your told as gospel.

Long story short, if you need your luggage for your stay at Disney do not put the DCL tags on.

Just to update, I did contact Magical Express who informed me I must contact DCL (because it was all coordinated through them). I explained that I do have DCL tags and she asked if they listed the resort on them. I replied they do and she said that they would work, even though they are the DCL color and not the yellow Magical Express tags.

I'm still concerned and will clarify with DCL as well, but either the policy is changing or we've now gotten two wrong answers.

I thought this might be the case, but didn't want to confuse the issue. We booked our resort through DCL years ago and only got one set of tags. You're good to go. All the luggage with DCL/DME tags get scanned. Yours will scan to the resort. Then the morning of your cruise they will scan to your stateroom.

Didn't realize they combine tags when you book your resort stay through DCL. Seems plausible to me that you would in fact use the same tag if it does list the resort. As said above, they will scan the tag and see where it's supposed to go.

I appreciate the data point. After speaking with the second agent it does sound like it depends entirely on making the resort reservation through DCL. I'd encourage anyone doing this to confirm the specifics with DCL at the time of booking though.

Many thanks to all!

I'm in the same boat (no pun intended :rolleyes1), blue luggage tags that list my resort name by code, my stateroom # under that in bold, my name, resort sail date, and my resort stay date. The room # is blank on my tags (which makes sense). So it seems like it's one tag now. Going to double check anyway just for my peace of mind.

I know this is an old thread, but can anyone provide an update or confirmation? I received my DCL luggage tags yesterday and booked my pre-cruise stay through DCL, so my tags are blue and list the resort on them. Just want to make sure I can use these and don't need to contact DME for the yellow tags!

Your booklet holding the tags should have specific information for you as to when to put your tags on. But, I believe, since the tags you have list the resort, you can go ahead and put them on.
