Of the five you listed, DW & I have dined at two of the signatures you named. We like Narcoossee's well enough...the first time we ate there we both really enjoyed our meals, the second time, we took my parents, and all four of us liked our meals, but DW & I didn't have the same "wow" factor we did the first time, and on our most recent trip, it was much closer to our first dining experience there.

As far as Jiko goes, we've never had a bad meal there. We've ate there a total of three times as well (different trips, so my parents didn't have a chance to eat there), and I loved it all three times. I think DW really enjoyed it twice and loved it on our most recent visit.

If location isn't an issue, I'd go with Jiko, but some would say it's too far out of the way to go there just for the dinner. We disagree, and find it to be one of the most satisfying meals from start to finish. On our most recent trip, our reservation became "lost" somehow, and they were able to seat us almost immdeatly. We were also staying at AKL on that trip, so as a special "thank you" they sent out an amuse bouce (sp?) of cauliflower soup.

Of what you have listed there, I'd choose Jiko or California Grill. I've eaten at both, the former several times, and I always get amazing food at both.

I'm celebrating my 30th in the parks next month, and I'm planning on getting a giant steak from the Yachtsman Steakhouse for my birthday dinner. If you're into steak, I'd suggest maybe going there or Shula's and splurging on some beef.

I would choose Jiko for my birthday dinner. It is my favorite restaurant. We love the varied menu - lots of good things to choose from that you won't find at "every other restaurant". They have a great South African wine list. The only thing we don't LOVE about Jiko is the dessert selection - its good but not great IMHO. You could fix that by ordering one of the amazing looking custom cakes I've seen come from the AKL restaurants.
