Pre- and Post- Cruise nights at WDW resorts worth it?

We are going on our first Disney Cruise next month! I am thinking of booking WDW hotels the night before the cruise and the night after we return. We have always wanted to try the Grand Floridian and thought this might be a fun way to try it out. Do you think this is worth it even though we won't have time to get to a park (we are limited to spring break days)? With a family of 5, would you recommend we stay in Port Canaveral instead?
