Prayers, Please!

Bless you for all of the organizing you are doing. It will help and be very appreciated. I second the paper goods. Maybe lemonade or iced tea to drink.

There may be times that the family is not up to visitors. Maybe making a note for those times that could be outside the door with a basket of post-its or note cards. The note could say something to the effect of "Our family is not up to visitors right now, but we appreciate you coming by. Please leave a note to let us know you were here."

I will keep him as well as his family in prayer.

Thanks for the ideas. Sorry it's been so long since I updated. Work has been slamming me. You see, he's my boss and his wife is the Sr. Pastor's secretary. I've been doing her work and mine. So pretty much, I'm the only secretary (with computer skills) for a church that's over 1,200 members. We do have receptionists and people are happy to help, but sometimes it's easier to do it yourself than to try to explain.
I took paper goods over. I also made up some thank you notes from them and put postage on them with a directory of addresses from all of the church people. All they have to do is address and stick in the mail. They have received at least $300 of restarant certificates probably a lot more. & Blockbuster. We have also suggested Piggly Wiggly (down the street) and Walgreens (they get his boost and Rxs there and that will help with the copay)
They aren't really taking visitors, just the ones who are bringing dinner. We have asked that people only send cards. He is still rapidly loosing weight and started chemo last week. There was a delay because he was running a 103 fever. He has thrush, they say is common with chemo.
I'm also the secretary for the pastor to children and this is VBS week. :badpc: Last night I was entering kids for VBS in the database until 10:30 and didn't even make a dent! Today I didn't eat until 4:15 and that was a bag of popcorn.
I'm supposed to have already mailed my stuff for the ride swap, but I'm not finished. I'm close, but I'm too exhausted to finish. I hope to do it soon, but I'm a brides maid in one of my bride's maids weddings this weekend and I have to pack. :hourglass On my DH's families side.
The 8 month old began crawling 2 weeks ago and is now pulling up on everything. The 3 year old is the princess of the house and misses all of the attention. princess:
I'm just trying to escape for a minute while DH is at work, DS8mo is crying in high-chair and DD3 is, um, better go find out what she's up to...

Take care of yourself! Now is the time to ask for help. I am sure there are alot of people that would want to help. Hang in there! I have been praying for all of you.

I am so sorry to hear this. I just said a prayer for him and his family.
I don't have a lot of helpful information but the disposable containers is a great one.
We also had for a dear friend who died last year of melanoma cancer a container that was out side on her porch. It was a styrofoam cooler. This way if they weren't home or busy, sleeping etc the meals could be place in the container. Also we found daily meals became too much. People always made more than needed. So we backed off to about 3 meals a week and that was more than enough.
We also placed by her back door a bottle of no rinse hand santitizer. People could use it before coming into the home.
Another thing that is good for cancer patients to make up would be fruit smoothies. I would buy organic fruit and flax seed and would puree and blend different fruits together. At times this was the only food my girl friend could eat. Chemo can sometimes make the throat very sore.
I feel for you and for all the members in your congregation. But it is amazing to see God's hand at work. To see how the members come together to help a family in need.
hang in there.
